Bought 2 more M998s on a whim while my current one is in fab shop,
Finally tracked down 2.73 remanned still in box 2.73 differentials so i can swap all mine out. Anyone else looking? If so maybe can do a group buy and snag a better deal.(I would post in group buy but no permission)
Thanks for the offer, I'm actually looking at ARBs if we can cram it all in with the dt360. Got a bit busy at work so haven't had time to finish measuring and get a cad model up and running on it.
At this point predominantly getting a list together to make sure everything will work well...
Chassis will be fine with the weight, handling can also be improved upon with a new suspension system designed for the load etc. So not to worried about a drastic change in handling that will make it undrivable or dangerous to drive.
DT360 is about 1200 w/o fluids and depending what's all bolted too it.
The DT466 is about 1475 w/o fluids. And depending what's all bolted to it as well.
So I sent a few emails off to look at suspension alternatives and to see what they'd suggest as far as beefiness goes.

The DT360 is 2-5" shorter on length, width, height from my understanding
Fan hub to valve rear is 37.5. DT466 is 41.
I could probably go the DT466 route, but I would assume that would require alot more frame modifications as well as housing.
Picked up a DT360 this week. Will be swapping it into the M998.
Probably start a build thread on it. And keep a spreadsheet on the costs. Althoigh the costs will likely be skewed as we can design and machine the mounts, lift it will need,, etc in house at my company.

Looking at a engine and transmission swap maybe...
Definitely was the rear differential like initially thought awhile back. Also when tearing apart found a brake line that was about to go out from running on the inside frame. Swapping all the lines for braided lines and going to move them a bit.

From my limited reading today,alphas are helical and weaker than the ones on the hmmwv, but hold better with higher speeds in regards to heat etc and prevent brake swaying when stopping hard.
Also read where someone remachined the geared hubs for uniballs, and basically redid the complete...
Doing all the work that I can myself. Just curious if it is worth swapping to alphas or not. From what I'm seeing really only if swapping engines etc would it be worth it.
