What is a GEP engine?

Not sure how or if posting in the same thread would get questions answered. The reason for this one was to be able to hear the pros and cons between both engine combinations from actual owners.

I realize that I am still learning about these things and apologize for all the questions. What are the pros and cons between these 2 engines? I would like to be able to drive at least 60 mph with what I purchase. I am looking for advice before looking to purchase. If you have any input, please...

WOuld the 4 speed be better for the road? THere are more 3 speeds out there that I am seeing and would like to buy the better one overall. Most of the time it will be the daily driver but there will be times that I will need to tow some things.

Lets ask this. Am I nuts for wanting one of these to drive to and from work, 10 miles? I would most likely not go more than an hour away in this thing. Is this going to be a maintenance nightmare? Just trying to gain information to see if I should steer away from this.

Will the data plate have a code or what the transmission really is? How does one determine if it is early or late?
