    brake issues

1954 GMC m215 I can hit my brake pedal once and the brakes seem to grab about 25 percent, but not with full power, and than I have a very squishy pedal for about 3-5 minutes before it feels kind of firm again. Should I try just bleeding the system? I know I'm supposed to start on the airpack...

    removing the governor?

Well I will have to spend some time doing some research on what I want to do exactly...4bt seems like it would be kind of a pita swap, without that much gain, 4bts were stock at about the same power as a 302...so without modification and alot of wiring work on it doesn't seem worth it.

    removing the governor?

As I've mentioned before, I have no shift linkage between my Carb and tranny. I have a reb shift kit. I'm going to check the local junkyards for any GM engines, about how old should I be looking for, for an easy swap? I want to figure out cost and labor in getting a new engine or modifying the...

    removing the governor?

As I mentioned in one of my earlier threads I'd love to swap the engine, I just have a few other projects and don't want to bite off something I'm not going to have time to complete. I have to have this truck and two other builds done by February. Is there a motor you know of that would be a...

    removing the governor?

Would the 2300 be a better choice than the 4412 mentioned earlier? I still think headers would be neat, as it would also give me dual exhaust. If money wasn't an issue would you go with one of those carbs rather than the Weber? I've seen dyno sheets from tom, but not with this combo, pretty...

    M211 deep water fording kit

Yea I took my cap off yesterday to see also, not much noise but it has pretty strong suction. Have you checked all of your other seals to verify everything is still waterproof?

    removing the governor?

I have, chekout my trucks on the dieselstop.com or powerstroke.org same username just felt like it was better to not mention it in the end. Jason I did not realize neither of them have dynoed it, how can you be so sure? I know tom has dynoed these trucks before, probably not this exact...

    removing the governor?

Im not worried about my transmission, as mentioned I have a reb shifter, so no linkage between tranny and the carb. As I said Jason, thanks for the input. I still think I can get 50hp or so more out of the engine with this combo. Tom from alfa heaven has echoed what clifford performance said...

    removing the governor?

Interesting, but I have a hard time beleiving that the claims from people at clifford performance are bogus, as they are pretty much the go to guys for chevy inline 6 engines. 50-70 hp doesnt seem unreasonable to me, your upgrading to a $600+ carb, upgrading to a much higherflow intake manifold...

    removing the governor?

Alright thanks for the help guys, Im going to be swapping the carb out for a weber 38-38 carb along with headers and a new intake manifold from clifford performance, supposed to be good for another 50-70 horsepower and about the same if not more torque! Henderson I will let you know when I can...

    M211 deep water fording kit

So what, your wife asked you to take a shower and you thought this would be the easiest way? But in all honesty isn't a bit inconvenient that the tubing has to be inside the cab? And idea what it will sound like sucking all that air in a few feet from your head?

    removing the governor?

I do want to get rid of my carb, but Id like to first get the engine running correctly first before swapping in anything else...Another question, if I were to get another carb, what would I do with the vacuum line that currently goes to the governor, or even the other one? I just send an email...

    removing the governor?

Im thinking about calling memphis equipment this week to see exactly what was removed or changed to install the reb shifter. Thanks for the clarification Jason. I will have to keep my eyes open for a kit on ebay. Or perhaps you only used one of your kits o.O and want to sell the other one...

    removing the governor?

Is there somewhere to get new gaskets? Liquid gasket wont work? Maybe I could just get a sheet of gasket material and cut them out myself using the old ones as templates? Since I have a reb shifter, perhaps the shift linkage from governor to tranny is MIA on my truck. So seems like my best bet...

    M215/m221 build

Sorry for not posting any new pics, I have still been working and taking a few new ones though so I will get them up tommorow. Today fiddles with the Carb for most of the day and did some grinding and sanding. Also managed to break 2 lugnuts loose! But they are on the front wheel not the back ones.
