    Broken Belt Replacement

hey Turkry, you are confused by the tach. It is driven by a signal from the alternator wiring.

FLU, no clutch disengagement, and unrelated, no air pressure

Thanks Gary. I have no pressure on the drivers side, confirmed. The whole system WAS operating until recently. I haven’t disconnected the line entering the pressure relief valve and tried to put my thumb over it, but when I push on the test port and hear the Pfft, pfft it is actually pushing air...

    FLU419 Hydraulic Cooling Fan Service

As a quick follow up to this, when replacing my fans and going through the hydro cooling system I found that there are TWO temps sensors on the system to trigger the fans. One is on the top of the cooler under one of the little corner covers, and the other is on the bottom of the cooler on the...

FLU, no clutch disengagement, and unrelated, no air pressure

An update on this. I have a clutch again! After changing both the master cylinder and the slave cylinder and getting the system bled, the clutch is working again, so that is good. To gain access to the slave cylinder (I don’t have cab-tilt capability) I removed the center floor plate and it...

Let me know when you make one of those alarms that ties to the tilt gauge. I could use one that goes off at 30 degrees or so. :D

Well, I’ve gotten through reading about 1/2 this thread, so I figure it’s time to introduce myself. So, I’m Brents347 (Brent), from Truckee, CA. and we’ve got an ’89 FLU that we bought from a private owner in about 2017. In the time we’ve had it, ive gone through a bit of stuff on the truck...

FLU, no clutch disengagement, and unrelated, no air pressure

Corrct and I agree. I will be flushing the entire system. Wish I had time to find surplus dot 5. I paid $120 for a gallon of dot 5! For clarification, Dot 3 and 4 are glycol based, while Dot 5 is silicone based. The two, as you said, are NOT compatible with each other. Dot 5.1 is also Glycol...

FLU, no clutch disengagement, and unrelated, no air pressure

The brakes, yes. The clutch I think no, but I had lost clutch function before I lost air so I know it is the hydraulics not the air problem that has me clutch less.

Don’t make me depressed speedwoble! I did not Replace the master, I decided To start with the slave. Don’t know for sure yet if I fixed the problem, but the old slave looked horrible and did come out in two pieces.

FLU, no clutch disengagement, and unrelated, no air pressure

First update; No conclusions yet, but I did change out the clutch slave cylinder. Now I need to get the systems bled. First interesting note. The clutch/rear brake reservoir cap CLEARLY states that it takes Dot 4 brake fluid. The manual states the correct military fluid, and that fluid...

I think I just answered my own question. I came across an old post from FluFarm where he said that his in-cab alarm went off until the truck built up sufficient air pressure. Since I am currently working out a no-air situation, that would explain the circuit having full time power. Live and learn!

Here’s a question I haven’t found the answer to yet. The little alarm horn inside the cab, mounted to the dash down by the hand throttle, what is it triggered by? Trying to figure out how to get mine to work. i removed the old horn and it makes no noise when jumped straight to the battery so I’m...

FLU, no clutch disengagement, and unrelated, no air pressure

Thanks. I do have a fairly easy way I could charge the air system from outside, so I will do that. And I orddered some snoop. Question though. The Snoop isnt a spray bottle. Do I apply it to the outside of the air system or put it inside the lines? I could do either way.

Ok, by reed valves you just mean pressure valve and suction valve, yes?
