    serpentine belt conversion for CUCV

I've tried Dayco belts and had them blow out 3-4 weeks after installation. after this happening twice I bit the bullet and spent the extra cash and went to all Gates belts and haven't had a problem since.

    Batteries Dying in my CUCV

So my problem was the #1 generator. After rewiring, upgrading to 1 gauge wire, new belts, testing of gen 1's leads with and without ignition on I went to Autozone and picked up the DL 7157. Since I last posted I had even replaced my printed circuit board. Oh well it works great now so going to...

    Batteries Dying in my CUCV

Having problems with my m1028 as well. Worked fine first year, now I’ve been chasing problems for 6 months. New belts, both alternators rebuilt by a local shop, new 925 cca batteries, upgraded the wiring to 1 gauge, still the #1 battery doesn’t charge. The only indication I have is the charging...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The guy at the bone yard gave me an 80's 2 tone horn out of a Cadillac for my CUCV. Just got it installed in my m1028, now I feel like Jay Leno "now THATS a horn"!

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Was having trouble climbing those hills on the expressway @ 70mph after the 700r4 was put in, thought it was just the anemic 6.2. Wow what a difference a new fuel filter makes! Now my m1028 runs like a sports car (not really but much better now).

    700r4 conversion

Ok, I have a couple of gas tachometers laying around and read some where that you can run them thru the alternator? Has anyone done this on their cucv? Is there some kind of conversion to the signal that needs to be done?

    Historical Responsibility?

I'm painting mine this color (still green) with rhino liner bottom 6inches and in the bed of coarse, but mine has rust bleeding thru the porous camo paint every where. Not as nice as yours sounds.

    700r4 conversion

Gotta thank all of those before me for the countless tips on the 700r4 conversion and the starter relay conversion, I drive down the road at high speed with a HUGE grin on my face now! When I first entered the military the cucv's were just beginning to be phased out (2001) always loved them...

    700r4 conversion

Thank you for your input Warthog. I did not intend to post or request parts in this forum, my intention was simply to ascertain whether 2 6.2L diesels that I have in my friends pole barn would have the proper throttle valve cable bracket. I will have to reread my posts in the future to ensure...

    700r4 conversion

I went with a 700r4 out of an 1989 2500 4x4 that was behind a 6.2 K case $250 (had to drive to Traverse City to get it) came with torque convertor, picked up the flex plate also. Advanced adapters th400 to 700r4 kit did this because its supposed to retain th400 length and I had just had the...
