No crankcase vacuum with K&N and flipped lid.

So just tucking the hose into the filter housing, here are the results. Pressure between filter and housing: 0.25 inches H20 at idle 6+ inches at ~2000rpm Pressure in filter housing with no filter: 0.375 inches H20 at idle 7-8 inches at ~2000rpm Now I had a little brain fart as I’m comparing...

No crankcase vacuum with K&N and flipped lid.

Since last time I only messured crankcase pressure at the dip stick, today I’ll see if I can confirm actual intake and air filter housing pressure.

No crankcase vacuum with K&N and flipped lid.

My understanding was the crankcase vacuum was purely generated by the venturi effect since diesels dont make intake vacuum. But now my theory is the crankcase vacuum is mostly is due to the intake vacuum caused by the restriction of the air filter and more so the filter housing inlet. Only a...

No crankcase vacuum with K&N and flipped lid.

So I had a rear main leak when I put on a K&N. My CDR has a little oil in it so I cleaned it with Dawn and water. With the clean CDR and K&N with flipped lid, I still see only 1/2 inch H20 at 2000rpm. It should be 2-4inches by spec. When I tried reinstalling the paper filter I saw 4-5...

    M1010 DUVAC Removal Plan "B"

I have and was seeing 16.8+ volts. This was with the regulator set to low and sending 12V to the ignition terminal straight from the battery. I considered trying an 12V external regulator(which i still think is possible) to control only 12V like the original design achieved but decided to go...

    Getting my CUCV road worthy!

    Wow! And still $3000 bucks.

    Getting my CUCV road worthy!

That's ridiculous. My M1010 has 285/75/16 tires and hit 81mph the other day. Calculated rpms at this speed is about 3700rpm. The drone goes away at the higher engine speeds. I was amazed at how smooth it was. I wouldn't cruise like this but she kept nudging me in the back trying to go...

    DUVAC internal pictures?

So...I tried switching the red and orange wires on the DUVAC. No change. I also attempted to see if the alternator(if fed 12v directly to the field and outputting directly to the front battery..i.e. bypass the reg and duvac) would supply 14v. Even with alternator adjusted to the LOW setting...

    DUVAC internal pictures?

Thanks man....says right there only needed if your charging two batteries with one alternator.

    DUVAC internal pictures?

The jist of it was.... i appreciate your info very much. I was studying the Sure Power patents today to try to understand design intent...I too understood that it seems the alternator was capable of the dual voltage(12v or 24v) based on the field value. So why not just wire the top alternator...

    DUVAC internal pictures?

I posted something 40 minutes ago and it said it will show up after being approved..not sure why.

    DUVAC internal pictures?

CUCVFAN, before I got your informations(thanks so much) I was reading patents(for the sure fire relay(the smaller blue box)) today to understand the design intent. I too initially thought the DUVAC was doing something to only allowing 12V output from 24V input. After studying the Sure Fire...

CUCVFAN...I was trying to find that...all the old links from the diesel forum were dead. Gimpy, I'll take a look.
