Thanks. I was surprised these aren't labeled on the panel like everything else seems to be. Should have the relays here this week. Will post updates when I make progress.
Thanks. Those units are priced way better than others I've seen. Fortunately, I actually have that one. Only needed the cheap relays for the five other positions.
I'm a little embarrassed to say I think I may have found the issue. Tracing the wiring diagrams, several of the nonfunctioning systems tie back to the relays. I've never owned one of these gensets before so the obvious isn't so obvious to me, but I'm missing the five K relays (12, 15, 16, 19...
Thank you!
I'm going through the diagrams, and it looks like 117A (the power for the fuel pump) gets traced back through the A9 float module switch, which appears to get its power from S1-5 at J7-8? So if I get power at P7-8, I need to check the float module switch?
I've also tried tracing...
Went through TB4 and all the wires look to be in the correct location. I went to test the diode from 10-11, and it was showing 54 ohms no matter the direction. Got all excited and that we found the issue. Pulled the diode and it tested ~1500 ohm one way and open the other. Tested the...
Thank you very much. All the wires that are giving me trouble are on TB4. I'll pull the cover and start probing with the multi meter. I appreciate your recommendation on the deoxidizing spray and will get some ordered. Thanks for your help!
Hello again-
Bought an MEP-803A at GP. Put new batteries in it and no crank. Glow plugs seem to work (I hear relays). It will neither crank nor run the fuel pumps and open fuel solenoid. I checked the main switch. That seems to be mostly working except term 3 doesn't have power when in start...
Thank you! The struggle I have is the wires on my gen don't seem to be labeled, so I'm assuming some probing is in order. Ground is fairly straight forward. Regarding the two connections on the bat terminal, if I have batteries and back probe those, should I see power when the system is off...
Ok, got the alternator on and bolted up.
Needed a slightly longer belt. Got a 4040365, but a 4040360 would've been better. 1/2" bottom bolt with grade 8 washers for spacing. 8 groove HD truck pulley. Everything seems to like up.
Now it's time to connect the wiring. I have four wires...
Awesome! Thank you. I ordered this pulley. 2.37in diameter with 8 grooves (more flexibility for belt alignment) and a 0.875" diameter to match the 21SI alternator. Keeping my fingers crossed...
Thanks. That was my understanding as well. It's a 24V unit, and the increased current rating should make it easier to find a pulley to work as I won't have to be as specific on alternator speed to get enough charge.
I'll go ahead and order this alternator to see if I can get it to line up...
