Pre bid inspection:
If you can see it in person, that is best, otherwise look carefully at pictures and video. What you are looking for:
1. Are all the parts there (batteries are usually gone)?
2. Can you still read the signs and placards? Are they bleached out from too many hours in the sun?

Doesn't sound good. I assume there is oil in the crankcase. Have you changed the oil and filter? Look to see how much sludge come out when the oil is changed. Maybe the suction line on the pump is stopped up. If you can't get oil, you are looking at some pretty major work.
I had a local hose shop make replacements for me. He used the ends off of the old hose. Apparently the swivel that goes into the IP was common, but is now rare. Cost for the hose from the check valve to the IP was $3 on one unit and $6 on another unit (different hose end bibs).
Item 5 has a lot of free movement (telescoping). Chances are that it is fine.
First, are you getting flow thru the IP and back to the tank when the fuel pumps are on? If not, you may have a stuck check valve.
Second, if it has not run in a long time, there may be air in the injector lines...
RPM does not have to change much to make the meter jump. Check
T M 5 - 6 1 1 5 - 5 8 5 - 3 4 section 7.3. Paragraph c.3 shows how to adjust sensitivity. I moved the sensitivity adjusting ratchet about half a turn clockwise to stabilize my frequency.
Well, I finally got it running. I started by replacing filters and cleaning and coating the fuel tank. Then when things just were not going well, I replaced two non-working injectors, a cracked finned injector spacer, a leaking head gasket, all of the rusted.non-working glow plugs, and the...
I need a TM for a Beta Systems 500 gal fuel tank, NSN 5430-01-276-9756. I also need some information about the drain valve in the bottom of the tank. Mine seems to be corroded in position.
I have cleaned the fuel line and check valve to the injector pump, but that was not the problem.
I have shorted across the high temp switch to make sure it was not cutting off the engine, but that was not the problem.
I have noticed that as the engine runs, it has more and more blow by around...

Fuel is returning going back to the tank. However, if you run the pumps for very long, they seem to develop alot of back pressure because they run slower and slower and nearly stop. If you let the pressure drop off, they run fast again.

My understanding is that if the oil pressure switch is bad, then it will open the circuit to the fuel shut off solenoid and the solenoid will then kill the engine. However, the solenoid is staying energized, so the oil sending unit must be working properly.
I can start the engine with starter fluid (glow plugs rusted off), but after running well for 45-60 seconds, it seems to bog down and then die. I am having some difficulty moving around fast enough, but starter fluid does not seem to keep it going once it starts to die.
Fuel filters are new.
