The 803a's are to big to run small tools, do yourself and your new generator a favor and buy a cheap Chinese 3Kw generator for the tools. Use the 803A when you have a decent 240V load. The 803A will "wet stack" but if you load it up and run it for several hours it will clean up.

Even if I don't add the controller to mine I will still help you and I'm sure others on the site will as well. I'm pretty sure most Automatic transfer switches have a dry contact switch in them and the DSE controllers have a input that you simply connect to the ATS with 2 wires to trigger the...
Hi everyone, it seems this thread has died out :( I am self employed and work all over the US for a week or two at a time. I have the 831A with auto-start completed but never started on the trailer mounted 803A. I have the extra controller for the 803A but just no time right now. (remainder of...
Dang!!!, That is perfect. thanks a ton for the work you and others put into that diaphragm. This is what I love about this site. Really smart and helpful people helping those of us that are maybe not so much :)
Your more than welcome, Dieseladdict, guyfang and a bunch of others here are WAY above me in regards to these gensets and they are really great people always willing to help.
Oh and check that you have the correct relays in the correct spots, some people ended up with relays in the wrong...
Welcome, I'm also a new member here. My best advice is the KISS method. Your correct in reading the TM for your equipment. If nothing seems to work on the 24VDC side check the power supply, ie the battery voltage, the fuse/breaker for the 24VDC side of things. Even though your batteries show...
how about 3 or so of these in a nice aluminum enclosure with insulation and 220VAC fan and a partition on one end to keep the contactors/relays away from the heat. I bet between all the smart people on this site we could make a Dummy load bank for a reasonable price AND we'd have a load bank for...
Thanks :), I love learning and figuring stuff out as well as sharing what I've learned. I work on LiDAR equipment that sits out in a field or remote site for up to a year so I needed a tough laptop. Its a Dell E6420 XFR with a 4G internal modem, touch screen, back lit keyboard, a real serial...
The genset ran dry because the 2 pin connector for the primary fuel pump was flaky intermittent, so I cut it out (can't rely on it) and put male/female fully insulated spade terminals with the genders reversed on one wire so I don't plug it in backwards :)
The controllers we are using can easily do that, setup 4 or so 1.5kw dump loads. Have the controller monitor amp draw and when there is no load on the genset switch all 4 loads on for a 6 kw load. Then as actual demand increases start disconnecting 1.5kw at at time based on actual load with a...
So the problem turned out to be the 2 conductor plug at the primary fuel pump, I cut it out and used different crimp connectors. The engine ran till there was no fuel, I had to bleed the fuel system to get it to run again.
The controllers some of us are using can do Load switching (load shedding and dummy load outputs) this would work to automatically keep your genset loaded at 60% or whatever you program it too.
