Hey guys it's been a long while but I'm about to reinstall the head on dad's M1028. Heard you have to put a tap in the threads before installing and putting new head studs in it. Do yall know what size tap to use for the stud holes before putting the rebuilt head on. I really appreciate this...
Thanks mullany, so the fronts are very prone to having bad Rust? And why do you say bring a refrigerator magnet? Is it to see what has bondo on it? I currently have $7800 but it seems nobody wants Deuce's in the area of town I live in so that's good.
Thanks mullany, dad wanted me to ask so we can know for future reference. But it's a 1971 with winch and locking hubs and power steering. He wants $10,500 for it and it's very straight and unabused, no rust on it whatsoever.
So there's a deuce I'm wanting to check out in my area for sale and I'm pretty sure it has asbestos brakes, for future reference, do any of y'all know how to change those brakes? And a way to do it without breathing in the dust?
Thanks a bundle HD, and love the story on your A3. I don't know why but the ol 2.5 tons seem to have won my heart outside of the 5 tons. Don't get me wrong I love the 5 tons but there's something special about the 2.5 tons to me, the seem just right for me ( payload capacity wise and size...
I really appreciate the knowledge you shared HD, but heck there's so many military trucks I want outside of the M35A2 also, would love to have a 5 ton and a m35a3, but being a almost 22 year old I want to get one big military truck for now and after I get my own place get maybe a couple more...
Thanks for the step by step process SC, yeah I'm gonna need to start getting some tools after I get my deuce in the future. Gonna invest into a big bottle jack and some rugged stands and other heavy duty tools I may need. But looking forward to all of it.
Thanks for the wealthy knowledge Rusty, I was really going to say if these were prone to throwing rods we wouldn't see them on the roads or at parades and such, but the more I watch on YouTube and hear from others on the forum about all the postitvity of the deuce, the happier I feel. I'm sorry...
Thanks again V8, I was gonna say you still see Deuce's here and there and I never really hear anything about rods flying very often, like you said turned up injection pumps and another is over revving them Ive heard these motors like to stay around 2k at tops. Yeah sorry V8 I hate to admit it...
Thanks G7, that's true what you said tho about all them having their own problems, so I guess not to worry about it throwing a rod? Sorry G7 and others that may read and enter this thread, just worry about stuff like that.
