I was also told that the low oil pressure light on the dash is what energizes the K11 relay and turns the E terminal on. Good oil pressure keeps the relay off, in a Normally closed state, sending 24vdc to excite the regulator and when the dummy light comes on it energizes the relay and opens the...
I have read about the quick fix. I tried it and my regulator will come on, however I am trying to find the source problem. I have tested the E terminal wire to the K11 relay and it is good. I just do not see in the schematics what actually turns on the coil in the excite relay. I have a 2006...
I am having the same issue in a 2006 1078A1. However, my dash gauge does show that my 12vdc output from the alternator is low. 24v side is good so the SCR pack in the front of the N1511 alternator has fried. I just received a brand new alternator and will replace it soon and post the results.
In my conversion to a 24v only alternator and using a 100 amp 24-12 converter I have found I need room in the battery box for the converter. I am running 4 6TL batteries now. Do you guys think that just having 2 6TLs in series will be enough amperage for the starter?
The exact same step can be used on earlier trucks with no loss of any functionality. The early polarity protection device does not monitor the battery charging circuit and provide a ground for a No Charge light if it detects low output voltage from the alternator. This can be done for less than...
I think I have found my answer to eliminating the “military only” and rare parts in the electrical system. I will replace the Niehoff alternator with a $500 CAT brushless 24vdc unit and a CAT alternator bracket. I will wire all batteries for 24vdc operation. I will install a 24-12 converter and...
I finally got the two poles that sit in between the batteries. They are used to give you extra leverage when lifting the battery tray up before sliding it out. My truck is a 2006 A1R so older trucks don’t have these.
Have your dealer look under CAT Special Instruction M0068178 and Media News M0081390. The kit that includes a new HEUI pump as well as the new replaceable, in-line filter is 20R6642. I don’t have the part number for just the filter kit. Perhaps someone else can expand on this.
I had a CAT service truck out here yesterday. The first thing he did was connect to the ECU with the CAT ET software. He checked all pressures and they were good. He then did an injector cut out test. When we got to the number 1 cylinder there was no change so something was wrong with cylinder...
In case you were wondering what the button at the bottom of the driver door is for as well as the thin metal bracket, it is for the TM bag. The top of the bag clips onto the little bracket and the bottom of the bag snaps onto the button. You can either keep the TM in there or any of your...
