Thanks guys but trading is not goin to be an option. Maybe several years down the road we can trade but just not goin to happen in the near future. May look into the disk brake setup, I know there is a thread on it here, I will have to check into that a little more.
Is converting to air brakes on a M35A3 possible? Has anyone considered or done it and if so how much would it cost to do it. We have two A3's and are using them as wildland fire trucks and it would be nice to have air brakes vs the hard pedel of the current air over hydraulic setup.
Swampzr2, I did all the fab work and painting on the second one myself. Only thing we paid to have done was the pump and all the plumbing. The first one we were able to get a grant and have someone else do it.
Put our second A3 in service today. Our first one has performed great so we decided to get our second one done and in service. The wildfire season here in Texas has kept us pretty busy this year so having two of these trucks will be a great asset.
We have routed the exhaust on both our A3's, they come out in front of the rear axle. We use them for fighting wild fires and didn't want the guys on the back having to breath the exhaust with the way it was.
Wish I had some better pictures. I will try to get more but usually forget the camera or take it and never have time to get some good photos. We need rain in the worst way here in Texas or we will continue to put this A3 and our other one through some tuff work.
glcaines, just curious why the wheels would only be rated to 60psi. Were did you find that info, is it stamped on the wheel? We are using our truck to fight wildfires and everyone else that has them and still running the CTIS stuff are having problems running the tires of the rim. We have yet to...
Ohfiredude, we have two sets of covers, bows and troop seats. I realize we are a long ways from you but we are trying to find someone that would be willing to come get them plus all the CTIS stuff we took off the two A3's we have. All parts are just sitting around our fire station and if...
Yes Seafire, I am talking about the yards in Fort Worth and San Antonio. Thanks for the info on the Forest Service having some on there yard. Last time we checked into it all they had were a few A2's. I know a couple of departments that have lost some A2's in the last month or so fighting fires...
Yes I know you can get surplus trucks through the Forestry Service, but in Texas it can be a waiting game. Lots of departments request them but it may take awhile to get one and if you do, you never know what kind of shape it's going to be in when you get it. That is why we decided to buy ours...
My Vol. Fire Dept. has two A3's. We have been running one of them for about a year now and are working on getting the other one in service soon. We have been very pleased with the A3 so far, no major problems and no problems finding parts. I think the reason you don't see the A3's being used by...
Congrats on the trucks, we are in the process of getting our second A3 in service. Have been very pleased with our first one, it has performed great for us so far. We have put lots of miles on it in the last month with all the grass fires around our part.
