We were allowed to see the cockpit and move around inside (just no pictures) honestly something could of been right in front of me and I wouldn’t of known it as I have no military background at all. However the chaff/flare controls were obvious but as pointed out by one of the escorts this is on...
Yes the "x" in HMX-1 does designate experimental. This unit is more known publicly for their presidential duties but they are involved in testing/development as well.
Family memeber is a Capt who is assigned to the HMX-1 unit out of Quantico. Went down there for a tour today of the Heli's. As expected very tight security and all pictures had to be approved! Got to see inside and out though pictures were limited to outside and certain things not allowed to be...
I will be calling the shop in the AM that will be handling this, I'll see if they have the rivets and what their thoughts are.
I am guessing that this was designed as a sheer point to save the frame/axle ?
Steering box is ok as when the truck hit the stump the steering wheel nearly broke my...
Yes I am concerned about the axle, but my thoughts is that because the rivets sheared the force of the impact was transitioned through that. If the rivet material had been stronger they might of held and then the weaker point in the axle/suspension would of then released the energy. Trust me its...
My kneecap agrees. This is one tough truck though, everything else is fine. Another friend was shooting video outside so I will see if I can get it to post.
The stump won.....Was going through a mound of debris (felled trees and branches) as we crested the hill my buddy shouted "STUMP!" and boom we hit, front wheel hit hard and went over the top. See pics, bolts completely sheared off, good thing though. Now I can only turn left and no right...
Welcome to the area! Around here the only shop that even knows what you have is Master Mechanic in Chantilly, VA. Stop by and talk to Don. Very nice guy and knows his stuff abou MV's.
As for paint I got my stuff done at Alban Cat in Sterling, VA but the Deuce is just a big bigger...
Final update. Up and down play is outside spec. Main bearings are shot, most likely the rods are gone as well. The sad thing is I dont even hear a knock issue but the seal leaking is a sure thing. On top of it they did find coolant in the oil pan as well.
In the mean time I got a great line...
Update. Thrust motion is in spec however they are reporting a lot of play up and down. I am digging into the TM so see what the spec is, but I am sure its out givin the history.
Mempis Equipment still have main bearings ?
There was a groove and they did get a spedisleeve to take care of it. They have an on site machine shop and they are the ones who measured. All seals on the transmission were replaced as well including gaskets.
Fluid coming out is 100% oil no doubt about it. I just dont' understand how if...
Truck was down for about a month getting a ton of stuff done at a shop. Picked it up today and started the drive home from Winchester and about 40mi into the trip it starts to leak oil out of the bell housing.
The rear main seal was replaced as it was leaking when I got the truck. What I...
