You are quite insightful, sir. I had the idea yesterday of scrapping the bed, not only for the weight, but the restoration time and costs. The rust is through on only one spot, but I know a simple flat bed as a starting point will be more versatile.
The other things you mentioned (leaf...
KaiserM109 - now that we are on the subject... What are your intentions with the trailers you mentioned?
I have some ideas of using mine for a unique desert camping trailer, complete with pop-up enclosure. I'm doing my best to keep it simple and relatively lightweight, yet arrive at a design...
Does anyone know - or can you tell me where to look for - the weight of the cargo bed on the M105A2? If I needed to remove it, what would I be looking at as far as weight and equipment needed?
Thanks in advance!
I may be creating an abomination as far as some folks are concerned, but I bought this trailer to have some fun with it. Part of the fun means making modifications which will obliterate the use of some of the stock military parts. Just wait till you see what I've created!!!

Thanks, a couple more great suggestions.
I'll be towing it with a '95 Ford F150 w/ upgraded towing package. Only short distances (50 miles or less) and relatively straight and level. The main reason for changing the wheels will be replacement costs and ease of maintenance. I can work around...
Apologies in advance if someone has already covered this, but I'm not having any luck with my searches...
:?: How difficult is a hub conversion on an M105 trailer so that civilian wheels and tires can be run on it? Also, what all is entailed? If this has already been discussed, a link would...
NOTHING would give me greater pleasure than a road trip right about now. And, since I grew up in the Tidewater area, I'd have things to do once I got back to Ol' Virginny!
However, let me know if you're out this way. I'll make you a sweet deal!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
