This thread just reminded me that I have a NOS air assist steering kit that I have been meaning to install for the past ten years. Then I can install the 809 series steering wheel, and then the Deuce is perfect.

There is a mighty fine swimmin’ hole round back of the house. Usually a bit of banjo music coming out of them thar woods.

When using the "thimbles" does the wheel press on the hub or does it hit the tapered portion of the thimble? The HEMTT wheels that I have don't seem to have a big enough chamfer to allow the wheel to contact the hub.

Are the thimbles that you mention Budd inner wheel nuts?

I think I will make it for one day. Tom's place is great.
