I see a bell-housing for an 89 diesel blazer. It should fit my 6.2 on the engine side. Will a 95 NV4500 bolt up to it on the trans side. It has the external slave cylinder on the drivers side.
I passed on the 96 donor truck. If I had a bell housing that would not clash with the front drive shaft, I would make him an offer. As I understand it, if I am going to use a 95 NV4500, I need a bell-housing from a 95 or earlier truck. If I found one, would that work?
The current owner swapped a 95 NV4500 out of a Silverado into the 96 3500, so I suppose he used the 95 bell housing. I will not lift the truck. Assuming that is the case, I could use the NV4500 with a different year bell housing to resolve the issue. What years bell-housing have you used...
Thanks for the warning on the engine, I suspected that but wasn't sure. My 6.2 runs great, so an engine swap isn't really in the cards. I understood the stock NP208 would bolt right on to the NV4500? Are there any other known problems or additional challenges with using a 95 NV 4500?
I've been gathering parts to swap out the automatic trans in my 86 M1008. I saw a 96 Chevy 3500 dually with an NV4500 (out of a 95 Silverado) for sale at a local yard. Has a running 6.5 diesel with it. I have been looking for a 90 - 93 donor truck based on research here. Is anyone aware of...
I hope to convert my 1008 to an NV4500. I have everything sorted out except the clutch pedal assembly. I found one out of a 95 Chevy 3500. I am getting the bell housing out of the same truck. I'm assuming that it will be an internal slave cylinder, which isn't my first choice, but I can live...
I learned a thing or two
I found a local NV4500, includes bell and shifter. It is out of early 90's 2WD Chevy, 6.5 diesel. I will be putting it in a 1008. On the picture, it looks like there is an output shaft where the 4WD version would have an adapter to the transfer case. Can I buy that...
Excellent information here, thanks for all the details. I am curious about the bell housing. It is listed as:
Mods:
instead of locating a new bellhosing, I head its possible to grind and modify the existing for clearance issues.
If the BH is from a diesel it fits. Only thing that must be...
