My barrel will be on the concrete floor and so will my genset. What is the important height measurement, the pickup tube or the height of fuel line connection to the barrel? Pretty sure my pickup tube will be lower than the genset aux fuel connection but the top of the barrel will be higher.
Crazy that Generac would require constant 120v power to keep the battery charged in an off grid generator. Would have cost them just a few dollars to include a solar battery tender. Also I was told it didn't have an alternator or stator for battery charging while running.
The Kohler looks...
Yes I have been thinking about this a lot and continue to explore other options. I've spoken with companies about installing a Generac propane backup generator outside. However I'm not willing to spend 6k on an aircooled genset that many people think are crap. I even had a Generac dealer tell...
I have seen speculation about diesel siphoning if using the aux fuel pump with an aux fuel tank that is too high. I am planning on using a 30 gallon plastic drum as my aux tank with the military bung adapter as the fuel pickup. Obviously I would thoroughly test this while present but my plan...
The best price I can find for a new fuel bung with the copper pipe is on Ebay. $100 bucks shipped. Anyone know where I can source one cheaper? Green Mountain Gensets wants $300 for one.
I found a local source for the plastic chemical barrels that the auto car washes use. They have two bungs on them. Thinking of one bung for the 802 and the other for a transfer pump for my tractor. Will strap it to a pallet so I can take it to get filled with offroad diesel. Any concern...
Thanks. I found one one for a decent price but it doesn't have the pickup tubing. Rubber compression part looks good. It it easy to source and install new pickup tubing?
Stationary and refilled in place. Tank will be located inside the garage along with the generator. The generator is exhausted to the outside through a thimble. A professional did the install and exhaust. Genset is currently located on isolation rubbers but I am going to bolt it to the...
Sound like a great idea but not sure how it's possible without a fuel pickup. Unless you are talking about putting the aux fuel line directly in the barrel. Seems like the braiding on the fuel line would eventually dissolve and clog the aux fuel pump.
So I think I will go with this 12 gal plastic tank. Any chance I can easily source an adpater to use the aux hose that came with my MEP-802a or should I just use 1/4" to a 5/16" barb and use new fuel line? My fuel line is 1,200 miles away with my generator so I can't take it to the plumbing...
