    Speedometer 15 MPH off

I noticed my speedo jumping all over the place and then it quit working all together. Randomly it will start working again but then quit after a few miles. Unscrewed the speedo cable into the t-case and found the end of the cable is all chipped up. Guess I solved that one, will be replacing the...

    Glowplug, resistor bypass...fun

Honestly just replace the glowplug card with a momentary switch and be done with it. Much more simple, more reliable and makes it harder for someone to steal your vehicle. My M1009 has a simple push button on the dash, when it's warm I'll push it for about 5-10 seconds to warm the cylinders, on...

    Looking For MN/IA/WI Members

    HMMWV Seats?

When I was in the Army we would pull CUCV seats from the cannibalization point and put them in HMMWVs because the seats were more comfortable. HMMWV seats are terrible. Go junk yard shopping and find some out of a import car, I'm sure you can find something comfortable and cheap that with...

    Trick to starting CUCV

That was a classic "got back in the vehicle, developed static charge with butt on seat and discharged static charge into the pump" type of fire. You could see her scooting her butt around on the seat in the car. If she would have just stayed outside the car it wouldn't have happened.

    seatbelt sleeve m1009

Just make a longer strap out of scrap nylon to move the seatbelt retention straps. I'm about to order the Tuffy console for my M1009, the old one I have in my Jeep has been going strong for years, survived a break-in attempt with a screwdriver and brick and is still water tight.

    seatbelt sleeve m1009

Tuffy consoles also have the straps to keep the belts up. Plus 16 ga. steel is nice to store stuff inside.

    Copper Coat headgaskets?

My old man always used 3M Super Weather Strip adhesive to glue head gaskets to the block. Might have been a holdover from the old days but I've never had a head gasket leak when I've done it. This for for non-coated gaskets obviously.

    body armor/run-flat tires?

M113 and M2 Bradley IFVs use a ~2" thick rigid Kevlar anti-spalling liners to keep the crunchies inside safe. That material if cut to fit and placed inside doors would protect the occupants quite well. Non roll down polycarbonate windows and side/rear glass, reinforced windshield, hard plating...

    M1009 console installation

Had exactly the same center console in my old civi Blazer. Looking at adding a locking Tuffy console in my M1009 to be able to lock up my radio and misc. gear. Looking good!
