Well I made some progress on the truck dying when put in gear. If I disconnect the 5th gear torque converter solenoid the truck does not die when put in gear. The solenoid is working, when there is no power on the solenoid I can not blow air through it, but when power is applied air can be blown...
Found one for a decent price. Others wanted 300 for it.

The wire on the right side of the plug in my hand goes to the capacitor and is fine. The one on the bottom left goes to one of the 2 spots on the solenoid valve on the transfer case, the top leftone goes to the ground. Also on that ground is the other wire that is broken on the solenoid valve.
Yeah the one wire from there goes to a capacitor, then goes to the transfer case solenoid. Just need to figure out which side of the solenoid it goes to. Not sure how to do that.
Thanks, for the replies, but the wire going to my torque converter lockup is messed up. Don't know how to fix that. I am not worried about the switch from low to high transfer much.
My 5 ton is having this same issue. It will move in low transfer, but in high it dies. I found that a rat/mouse chewed through the wire on the transfer case interlock valve. This wire also goes to the 5th gear lockup. Does anyone know how to tell which wire goes where? Here is a pic of the...
I pulled the bottom part of held in by three screws. Then I removed the C clip that holds in the valve. After that pull the valve out with pliers (it is not easy). Then I removed the screw, cleaned it up, put locktite on the screw and tightened it up real good. You can't tighten that screw until...
That bolt was actually loose and that is why it was leaking. I could not get it tight until I removed it. When it was leaking I could tighten the bolt and it would stop until the bolt got loose again. I think I got the bolt tight so that it wont come loose again. The spring still is still free...
Thanks guys. I took it apart and tightened the bolt while holding back on the top part that was spinning. I was able to tighten it up, and now I don't think it will come loose again. It has no leaks at all as long as the bolt is tight. Problem was that I could not tighten it up much at all with...
