M923 Axle Nut socket, who needs one

I would definitely take one! I also think it's reasonable to at least pay for materials on top of shipping, even if you're not charging for your work!

    M923A2 weight ?

Wow, that's weird. Here in OR you can register whatever weight you want, but you have to pay for the registered weight and comply with the rules for that weight (up to the trucks actual gvwr). I took 21,550+20k onroad carrying capacity plus 30k trailering capacity to determine gvwr of 71;550...

Did they ever make an Armored Cab upgrade package for M939 series cabs? (I.E. M923A2)

Every 5 ton I drove while I was in had an armored cab. The nicest one was the one we turned in our lmtvs to get for the IZ, it had a factoryrmored cab, A/c, lockers, and a TON of power. It had no problem breaking the rear 4 tires loose and doing cookies in gravel or doing 82 mph fully loaded on...

    Chrysler Defense HMMWV Prototype

They have a couple different HMMWV prototypes at the museum on Fort Lewis you might want to check out if you ever get up that way... maybe get the curator to let you snap some pics of yours parked next to them....

5 ton used as fire truck

I bet you could fab a pretty good external roll bar for behind the cab and if you wanted to the front and rear of the bed area for next to nothing... Rollovers are, of course, a consideration, though these trucks WERE designed to carry heavy loads off road.... I've driven them plenty with 2x 600...

    Ex-mil TD6 W/W recovers stuck....

A TD6 only weighs 5k WITH the blade. It's cool to see one in action! -I was able to snatch up a TD6 Series 62 W/drott 4:1, I haven't had a chance to do much with it yet though. The original TD6's were very common with the US Navy and the TD4's with the US Army. As a side note, what in the heck...

    Nuke trucks?

Hmm.. He said the nomenclature definitely started with MX, and it was experimental. Perhaps it was what became the MAN KAT1 in 1976 and later the M1001/M1013 MAN 10 ton 8x8 eventually replaced by the current HEMITTs.

    Nuke trucks?

Well, we finally found some pics of the truck! Anyone know where we can find one of these? It's a 10 ton 8x8. Still not sure what the make / model of the truck is though. It seems like an MAN KAT1 but they were not made until 1976 nor with the 10 ton crane, only a 1 ton or a 5 ton winch.... The...

    Please clean your chimneys

We bought a house and I asked the owner when the last time the chimney was cleaned... The look on his face... you'd think I asked him when the last time he flew to the moon was or something... I'm amazed people don't understand that you have to clean your chimney or clear your driers exhaust...

    Allison MT654 VS MT654CR?

I saw those trannies as well and was wondering why they were only for the vans. If the price isn't bad, it may be worth picking up, then you can see what if any difference there is. If they are not at least compatable/swappable, it should at least make a good "rebuild kit...."

    Nuke trucks?

The MAN 8x8 tractors would seem likely, the US Army used at least 4 different models ( M1001, M1002, M1013 and M1014) however they are all based on the KAT 1 which came out in 1976... a few years to late to be the truck in question. The preceeding MAN trucks and HEMITTS were both used to haul...

    Nuke trucks?

Here's more info on the truck: "The P1A looks like the trailer and missile. But my truck was much bigger, 4 axle evenly spaced, all wheel drive, front 2 axles turned, square box cab with no front end. It was something like an MX1 or MXK1" Thanks!

    Nuke trucks?

Thanks for the pics / input guys! -I'll pass the pics on and see if they are recognized. As far as wheel/tire size... who knows, it could have litterally been 6', or it could have been 'that's the biggest freaking tire i've seen'. What he actually said IIRC, was "about as tall as i am" and he's...

    Nuke trucks?

Hello, A member of my family who was in the Army durring Viet Nam spent the whole time driving around nuke trucks. I would like to try to identify what model truck it was and get him some pics or something. I will try to refresh my info from him, but IIRC he said it had 8 wheels, each tire was...

    Dump bed tarps

I've seen Tarp and Bow kits for the dump beds on ebay and a few venders... may be more hassle than they are worth though?
