The durability on the 14.5R20 Michelinsisn't exactly stellar. IIRC they were only required to last 10,000 miles. More than one memeber here has had a blowout on the highway, and I had one split in a mudhole in a way that made me really question how safe they are.
There are more horror stories...
Nobody has ever put another tranny in an A3, with the exception of one guy who put an A2 tranny in. It's been explored to death, and every time it comes down to being a MUCH larger job than anyone wants to casually take on, and more $$ than its worth.
I still stand by my contention that an...
MD to FL, and back......Ugghh.... I can barely do that in my 2011 F-150, I'd lose my mind if I had to drive that far in my A3.
I'm going to say "No" you shouldn't do it. Here's why:
#1: It only goes 50mph. While the SS'rs in the mid west can get along just fine, those guys don't have to...
That's messed up.
So what happens if you just ignore the notice to return the truck? No "what can happen" in legalese, but how far will they really take it. Has anyone just flat out ignored one of these notices before?
I'd be really interested to see what would happen if the buyer has...
LOL, yup.
It's like there's no inbetween either. It'll start in less than one revolution down to about 32F. Under that it has to crank over for a good bit if it hasn't run for a few days.
LOL, looks like its almost on! Can't you just drive on? (only half serious as I know nothing about tracks, but I do subscribe to the "if it don't fit....force it" school of thought on most things).
I think the same reason you're not supposed to use it in a powerstroke applies to the 3116. I wouldn't use it, although they do apparently have a powerstroke safe formula now that doesn't screw up the injectors.
Glad it all worked out!
The first time I changed my Trans fluid I ran into this. I was using a really large funnle that I had jammed down in the tube pretty good. Long story short, when it stopped filling I turned the truck on, and a good sized air bubble blasted about a gallon of ATF all the...
Your Trans vent tube on the back of the cab is probably clogged. Blow it out with some compressed air, and it should be fine. Normally it's just those little spider webs that look like Cotten balls that clog them.
I would not under any circumstances let him do that. I know people used to use iodine as a "loctite" back in the day, because it caused the screws to rust into place. I'm not even sure what iodine would do in this application, but I'm sure it's not a good thing.
Why even risk using...
I mean, I'm glad my A3 has the ability to do such a thing............IN AN EMERGENCY...... But I can't say I'd ever want to take my truck for an afternoon boating trip like that guy.
