FWIW..........
Consider painting the fire wall with "LizasdSkin" insulation and sound control see;
http://lizardskin.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/lizardskin-application-instructions.pdf
If you are going to the time to remove the engine and transmission I would use the "LizasdSkin"...
For What it is Worth:
There are several oil pre-lube system on the market.
One is http://www.engineprelube.com
There are several others, run "prelube oil pump truck engines" in google you will see several.
Review there sites you will get several ideas how they are differently installed...
Sharecropper,
Did you review / look at one way the Spinner filter are mounted on a Duranax?
See photo, the casting on upper right
I would consider making an aluminum casting of the oil filling tube with an mounting platform for the spinner.

FWIW.....
I have a 6.2na in a 86 M1031 and a 6.5 turbo in a 99 Suburban.
A Durmax is a much better engine.
A Durmax LML with a 6l90 or better yet a 8L90 in the M1031 is what I would like.
Would make the M1031 a sleeper.

CUCV Parts Manual
If you have not done this yet, go to the CUCV TMs area on this site and download the ;
"GM CUCV Parts and Illustration Catalog 52D"
This will have part numbers for CUCV's.

Found the following;
"gm square body duramax diesel engine conversion '73-'87 C & K SERIES......"
Looks like simple swap and bolt and to me it does not look expensive{the conversion parts/kit] compaired to fabricating everything yourself...
FWIW.........
Consider a 4L85E transmission, they where in Chevrolet Avalanche, GMC Savana, Chevy Suburban, and GMC Yukon. Rated a little heaver that the 4L80E. The 4L85E can handle 460 lb-ft of torque, which is slightly higher than what the 4L80E can handle.
