can a deuce ever be very reliable?

That's the thing. 1200 miles without a breakdown is not that impressive. That's like 2 solid days in the road. If you went 120,000 miles with no major issues then I'd be impressed. I've got an 85 international bucket truck that I drove 25k miles last year and about 300 hours idling with the...

    M37 doors

Hey guys. I'm currently on the lookout for my first MV. I'm leaning m37 or m135/m35. I found an m37 close by that is a runner. Amazingly it has almost no rust. It looks to be in pretty good sharp body wise. The questions I have are 1. The roof is damaged. Apparently the shop where it...

can a deuce ever be very reliable?

As far as special licensing, I have a Class 1 CDL (semi trucks) so I am good to go for that. I'm on 3 acres, so I don't have any problems with neighbors. In fact, I will likely be putting up a 40 x 80 shop this fall so I might even be able to park all my equipment inside  I have an...

can a deuce ever be very reliable?

How is it to get parts? Is there good aftermarket support? I ran into that issue with my last landcruiser (1969 fj40) some parts were not available so I had to be creative or scrounge for 40 yr old pieces. I realize there will be maintenance and hiccups, I just don't want to have to perform...

can a deuce ever be very reliable?

I've got my eye on a '72 m35a2 it looks really good I'd post pics but I don't think the forum will let me. It appears to have a rebuild about 300 hours/ 3k miles ago. It has little rust it's complete and apparently runs very good. It's 500 miles away so I can't just pop out to take a look...

    Questions from a deuce newbie

I had typed out a reply this morning, but I neglected to press send:x My questions were regarding an 800 series MV instead of a deuce. After some research I think an m814 might be more hassle and expense. Now Locally within 600 miles of home I can find 2 trucks that are possible. Ill link to...

    Questions from a deuce newbie

Ok, I had another question, I ws looking at eastern surplus's website yesterday evening and I was wondering about a 800 series truck over the deuce? Is there a reason to choose one over the other? the 800 series looks to have a 250 cummins, and a 5 spd is this a better overall engine...

    Questions from a deuce newbie

Hi Guys, I joined a few years ago, when i was considering buying a deuce to pull some equipment. I was talked out of it based on the weight I needed to tow. Nonetheless, I still can't shake the craving to own a gigantic military truck. Seeing that my towing needs are being met by a medium...

Might buy a Deuce. opinions please.

From what I can tell, the Canadian government does not sell military trucks to the public. The are parted out and scrapped. They surplus some things like my personal pickup truck. . not the big trucks. Unfortunately, I've also heard they are better as well

Might buy a Deuce. opinions please.

Well this leads me to a couple of new questions, 1. Is eastern surplus good guys? I spoke to Steve last week for about 20 minutes and he seemed decent. Is his stuff decent value? 2. He recommended an m818 fifth wheel tractor with a 250 horse cummins. Price starting at $9500 I'd post a link...

Might buy a Deuce. opinions please.

Really? Now is this a legal thing, or is it just plain too much weight? I used to pull this with a 97 dodge 3500 (one ton) with a gooseneck hitch. it actually did pretty well. It's hard to believe that a tandem axle truck couldn't take more than that. I believe you guys, I just...

Might buy a Deuce. opinions please.

Hey guys, first post. :naner: This site is awesome. I think in the next 6 months, I will need to buy a truck to haul my equipment. I move a 20'000 lb telehandler as well as a snorkel lift. (seperate trips) currently I pay about $500 to move the pair from job to job. Originally the...
