Section8, Glad to hear that you made it down to Barriere safely and are able to move your livestock to a safer place. We'll all keep our fingers crossed for you and all those who's homes and livelihood and in harms way. Mother Nature doesn't play fair. When the fires some years ago got Louis...
Lots of new forest fires burning in the interior of British Columbia. Most started by lightening strikes and several hundred more in the last 24 hours. So far lots of property lost but no lives. Many communities evacuated, including Little Fort where Section8 lives. Just wondering how they...
Vintage Power Wagons or Mid West Military will have these eye bolts if you can't find them anywhere else. Have a look at the VPW on line Parts catalog to see what they have.
That's the best truck I have seen and over the years, I've had a chance to look at a lot. Beautiful fabrication of the dual parts and it all comes together perfectly. What's your next 'option' project?
The CDN truck is the same as the US with the 230. Some pics were just posted on the G741 Build forum showing both front and rear mountings for the 251.
Hop over to G741 and search the Build section for a few projects where the body was swapped over to a Dodge chassis. Track is a bit wide and unless you shorten the frame, you will have to extend the box or cab tub. Its all been done before....
You can use the dielectric grease on connections but for covering them there are rubber boots available in various sizes. Lots of sources, but for my marine stuff, I use Blue Sea Systems in Bellingham, Washington. They have great technical service if you have a question. Some of their stuff...
Dave, You have all the luck finding these old girls. The one is definitely marked for 1 SVC BN, which when I was around this stuff, were at Sarcee in Calgary before everyone went off to Edmonton. On the Ortona visits, I have to say its more than a few years ago. There were a number of reasons...
Those are great pictures. I particularly like the setup of the M135CDN on the bridge section. Its a great way to display a monument vehicle. The group shot is great as there are less and less of these runners around. What armoury is the 15 Circus Bn located at these days? Looks like a new...
If you can't find one, ask for the dimensions and have a sheet metal shop bang one out for you. They are pretty simple and should be easy to put together. You could also advertise in the usual places and someone will have one sitting in the corner.
Its hard to tell from the picture what size the casing is. Blank for sure, and usually when the 7.62 that I was most familiar with were fired, the crimped end would open up a little, but not much. As mentioned, I'd have someone local who is familiar with these have a quick look at it to...
The window parts inside the door are available. Wiggly side windows can be wear and after 40yrs out of the military, most have not been maintained. There are lots of these trucks around in various states of disassembly out there. Doors are often in bad shape with the bottoms rusted out...
As already stated. the CDN M37s family all had 251's as an improvement over the US design, along with the T98 transmission and hardtop as standard equipment for our area of operations. Other vehicles that used the 251 were Dodge Power Wagons of various years and industrial equipment from fork...
I had the hole on one of my M37CDN trucks, where all the small stuff had been removed before I saved it. I got a piece of 14ga body metal, cut a bit larger than that hole in the dash. I used an epoxy adhesive to install it from behind. Its still there over 20 yrs later. The same fix was...
Those are great pictures. Is the CN locomotive part of an excursion train or a display? The hartop will take some work, like most of them they were used to stand on when halted anywhere for more than 15 or 20 minutes and the cam nets had to come out. Some were worse than others, depending on...
