I had the same problem with my MEP 831a. Ran and worked like it should even on very humid days. One time on a non-humid day, I started it up and immediately shut off with short circuit fault. I disconnected the convenience outlet and everything else without any major disassembly and still the...
Said you are running on 120v only, did you connect a jumper wire between L1 an L2. If not that would do it. The switch for 120v or 120/240v is on top of the inverter. Could be too much for an inverter generator.
Running a load from one battery will lead to a discharged battery. The 24 volt alternator will not keep that battery charged. Plus you will add another failure point with the relay. If you wanted to use 12 volt pumps, you could use a 24 to 12 volt converter. You would still be adding another...
Hook up a multimeter, one end to the + battery connection on the starter solenoid and the other end to the starter housing. You should have 24+ volts. Now jumper the terminal with the yellow sleeve to the + battery connector on the solenoid and read the volts on the meter. If the voltage drops...
You might want to start out by checking the batteries and the battery cables first. Any battery can fail at any time. If using a battery tester, test from the battery post itself, not the cable. You can also test with a voltmeter or test light. Test each battery individually. Attach or hold the...
One thing to remember on a fuel tank is bigger is not always better. Diesel has a limited life. There are additives that will lengthen that such as Pri-D. Also heat, water and oxygen are not good for any fuel, with water probably the worst.
edit - Also do not store Bio-Diesel, the higher...
This would be a good time to use a pressure washer. Messy but will save a lot of time. Wear a full face shield, hat and old clothes. Use detergent and a 15 degree nozzle. Hot water would be better. Pressure wash before major disassembly so you aren't chasing small parts.
I think the hose melting off the intake manifold is your clue. Remove the intake manifold and use a pen light and mirror to check for debris around the intake valves. I would say there is debris preventing one or both intake valves from closing all the way. If that is what it is, you will need...
Here's your manuals - Thanks to Guyfang https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/all-the-manuals-for-the-mep-802-5kw-generator-and-mep-803-10kw-generator.148871/
First off, make sure you properly ground the generator before running it. One of the manuals will tell you how to do that. Is the engine actually increasing in rpm or are you just assuming it is because of what the frequency meter says? How is the voltage? Holding the start switch on start after...
