thanks doghead, i did not know about the ground stud. and thanks for all your informative posts, i have successfully done your starter relay mod a few months back.
i am sorry my info may not be correct, when i purchased parts for mine today, rectifier, brush rack, regulator, bearings, diode trio. the only part number that was different was the rectifier. upon examining the two rectifiers side by side that only difference was the mounting hole, to allow for...
i am no expert on that swap, but there were some 6.2 trucks built with 4L80e transmissions. they had a tach drive made into the top of the vacuum pump and had a stand alone computer that maybe could be adapted. the length is likely shorter than your turbo 400. the 700r4/4l60,65,70 transmissions...
i learned today that the only differnce between civvy and cucv alternators are the rectifers. the cucv ones have larger mounting holes than the civvy ones to allow for the insulators to keep the alternators isolated. in a pinch you could enlarge the holes on a civvy one i believe. another good...
you will be disapointed with the one from the dealer. back then you could buy all those pieces seperatly, the "crank" will be the piece that folds and hot the whole assembly. i believe the lock cylinder is held by an E clip on the back side of the piece called the clutch. the clutch is not...

i have ordered from them with good results as well. if you are going to order the vent rubbers, be sure to get the replacement rivets for the upper pivot.

you might check the govenor. it has a plastic gear that will wear out and cause a no or late harsh shift. the gear is available seperate from the govenor and is not difficult to replace. drive out the roll pin, remove the old gear, the new gear will not have a hole in it, after the new gear is...
a dim light is usually indicative of a bad diode, either in the diode trio or the rectifier bridge. [alternators generate ac voltage and the diodes correct or alter the output to be dc voltage]
Hi all, i am new here. i mounted my tag on top of my bumper. it is secured to a eighties oldsmobile tag mount that covered the fuel fill. i mounted a rubber wheel to the back of it, it is spring loaded so it moves down and back up with the tailgate.
