I'm torn part of me wants to put some work into it use it as a beater, but there's potentially a lot of little gremlins hiding in there and I might be better off just putting that money toward my M715 or a better truck...

Steering seems you have several options:
- stock manual steering
- air assist steering
- hydo assist steering
- full hydro steering
With the steering, 1st question would be: Is full hydro steering legal in NY?

I still haven't gotten over to Kublos even though I'm so close, I have a M715 project that I'll get to work on someday, but I'm afraid if I go over to Kublos I'll come home with something bigger...

I found my M715 on a farm up near the mouth of the Saint Lawrence, it was a ex-fire brush truck from Chamount, NY.

A full cab swap shouldn't actually be that hard, just time consuming and remembering where everything goes, but not too bad. Also remember the cab data plate must match the title...
I've heard good things about PREFAIR, but are there any restrictions on bringing parts back across the border...
jeeplvr247 - It the same here in NY, rust is the main battle, I was very happy when I found my truck, only rust was the size of a quarter in the drivers side floor board.
dpms101 - Good to see another NY'er, it seems as though there is quite a few people on SS that are in the NY / PA area...

Steve does great work, the 1 ton dana 60s under my '77 CJ7 were delivered about 10 years ago by Steve from FL to Alfred Station, NY :mrgreen:
Front: narrowed Chevy Dana 60 5.13s ARB 35 spline, slugs, discs
Rear: narrowed Ford High pinion...
Glad your okay and that's impressive you were able to drive away with that amount of damage. It really is a testament to how tough these trucks are.
I think I may have seen your truck over the summer at the Big Dipper Ice Cream in Apalachin or a nearly identical one...
