I'll give it one more shot before sending them back. I tried several times bending it while they were attached. I even rigged up a nylon rope and a come-along to pull it back into place so I could get the P-clip on it. No dice. I had a feeling there was going to be an issue when I lined it up...

I compared them to the old ones before putting them on, marked them both. And one of them fits fine. The other one would touch the shifter linkage no matter which port you put it on. I wish I could cut off a half inch and re-flare it, but that's beyond me.

Well, I finally got time to install the new lines today, and one of them just doesn't fit. The one that goes from the top position at the radiator to the rear port on the filter housing sticks out to far to install the clip back on it. I tried everything including bending it in place. Compared...

I never even got to the engine sides of the hoses. I was trying to take them off at the radiator end first so I could prop them up and drain as much of the oil out of the line and back into the engine as possible. Hoping the engine side won't be as bad since it's up against the filter housing.

I'm with you on that. It's been bugging me that I don't have one on there. If I found a NOS one, would it fit/attach the same way over the GR starter as it would have over the DD starter?

I hope I'm not jumping in on your thread when I shouldn't be, but I've got a similar issue and a couple of ideas that might help. My starter was occasionally hanging up or not turning when I'd turn the key. The first time it happened I popped the hood and could have sworn I saw a little smoke...

Do you happen to still have the part number so I can be sure I get the right ones if I go that route. I'm leaning toward cucvrus's fix, but if it's an easy install I might order the AC Delcos. By the way, do you have to drain any oil to install new hoses?

Finally got around to taking her to a welder. It ain't pretty, but it's stronger than stock. Actually, it is kinda pretty.

Yeah, it looks that way. I'm going to try to get out there and take it off this afternoon. I'll probably try the welding shop first. I'm glad I have the bolt-on as a fallback plan though. I appreciate all the help/advice. If it wasn't for this site, I'd probably hang a for sale sign on this...

You know, I've never welded anything in my lifetime, but I guess it's never too late to start. A Harbor Freight welder is probably cheaper than I'm going to find this part for. I might put out the bat signal and see if I can find someone around here to do it first.
