    M998 Oil Pump Problem

Yes, my thought exactly. The camp is quite remote with no manual oil pressure gauge on hand, but hopefully will pick one up tomorrow and get to the bottom of the “faulty gauge” issue. Thanks guys.

    M998 Oil Pump Problem

Thanks for the ideas. No Tach on the old girl, it is pretty much all stock condition. My son said he was certain it was not a rock or other road debris either time he heard the loud crack and looked to find remnants of anything with no luck. Will go out and start the troubleshooting later today...

    M998 Oil Pump Problem

Gents - I have a 1993 M998 with 49k miles that I purchased from Uncle Sam about 7 yrs ago. After some rehab and TLC (completed 6yrs ago), it has not had one problem. Good PMCS performed a month ago before vehicle entered service for the season, all fluid levels right, etc. Earlier today, my...

    4 man Soft Top suppliers

And I will say I bought a new 4man soft top and door kit from Benton in 2019 for my ‘93 M998 for almost nothing and made the mistake of not buying a second set for the ‘91 that was on borrowed time. Rookie move! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    4 man Soft Top suppliers

Thanks for the input gentlemen - it seems clear that William offers a superior product. Would be good to get feedback on some of the ready-to-ship products. Several of them look too “green” and shiny to match a veteran M998. Also curious about the Fed Mil Parts design, how much of an improvement...

    4 man Soft Top suppliers

The time has come to replace the green soft top and doors on my ‘91 M998. Since Benton is gone, I wanted to get thoughts on some of the other product available. A survey of the forums shows BlueOx as a favorite, but with long lead times. How are the kits from the various parts houses such as...

Tobash - agree this wouldn’t be for the faint at heart, but it seems to me you are over complicating it. The M998 weighs in at 5200 lbs, and while the electric motor and batteries have serious weight to them, don’t forget a lot of weight will come out. Can remove the stock 6.2L engine, the...

Tobash - boy, you are being awfully close minded about the possibilities here. Let me offer some thoughts on why this might be an interesting project: 1) noise reduction - as an EV, it might be possible to take the old girl out for a spin without waking up the neighbors, could sneak up on game...

Coug/98G - I’m thinking your cost estimates for the kit are much higher than I am anticipating. A new fully loaded Chevy Volt is $38k, so I was guessing one of the EV kits would be under $10k and perhaps under $7k. If kits are much more, it’s hard to see how GM will sell very many. Using these...

All - thanks for the feedback. I’m sure for many this will not make sense. However, for some it may very well be a great way to increase reliability and add torque (if the system is priced right and the install isn’t too disruptive to the OEM parts). What I’m really interested in hearing about...

Has anyone looked at the “eCrate motor package” that General Motors is planning to release commercially next year? About a month ago there was news of using this kit to restore a 1977 K5 Blazer, in pretty much stock configuration. Looked very slick, made me wonder about the prospects for a...

Fellas - many thanks for the comprehensive thoughts. Got the battery tender, security cameras, etc, but heading out now for final glycol resupply! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Winter Storage Proceedures

Ha! Thanks - the camp is up in northern NY state, not far from the Canadian border. Better than Texas in the summers, but tough winter conditions for sure... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Winter Storage Proceedures

Had great fun this summer with my “new” 1993 M998 for its first season at the fishing camp in the mountains. The time has now come to close up camp and say goodbye until next May or June. The old girl will be in an unheated garage, so it will sit for extended periods in sub-zero temperatures...

    4 man soft top modifications

Thanks c-game - got my hands on a pair of those mounting brackets. However figure 321 isn’t very clear about how those attach to the c pillar. I assume they mount above the striker latch and the c pillar slips over the upper bracket extension and then secured by #24 rivet blinds? Will have some...
