    6.2 fuel return miseries

Sorry I haven't gotten back, but I never got notification of any replies. My #1 son, the only one I have, is usually conscripted into performing this type of task, so I don't know exactly what was done other than all of the hoses were replaced and they haven't given any signs of trouble. I...

    6.2 fuel return miseries

I have been having ongoing problems with the Chinese replacement fuel return lines on my Chevrolet 6.2. It seems that they will crack and spew fuel in about one year, so after three sets, Dorman #904-101, I think I've finally found the solution. Chevrolet in, these parts, doesn't carry the...

    Stretch's used oil centrifuge

I'm using the marine pump and don't have a problem with the volumes I'm pumping so far. It's only about 4 gpm, so it isn't the fastest in the world. If the electrical connections are a problem, just run a line to the battery and go through a toggle switch to energize it. That would put any...

    20 micron filters

RE: filter picture As I read more on the applications for filters in general, I find a few more specifications. General Filter makes an inline filter for fuel oil furnace applications. I have one that I picked up at Liquidation World, when they were still in business locally. The...

    source for filters

If you're going to mix with diesel or some other fuel at a later date, it might be a good idea to premix some of that fuel with the WMO. That should reduce the viscosity some and make it flow better. Or else, you need to pre-filter through a screen to get the larger stuff and keep your filter...

    source for filters

It all depends on how much crud is in the oil. I gravity filtered (25 micron) some oil that had been in a drain pan for months and the leaves and other trash were pretty hard on the bag. After that, I filtered 5 gallons of WMO that was pretty clean and it went through the same bag about as...

    20 micron filters

RE: filter picture I live right in the middle of oil and gas production in east Texas. I just got word of land in the vicinity being leased at $12,000 per acre. Even so, the concept of using waste products for fuel makes good sense, if it can be done without harming the engines it runs in...

    source for filters

I just bought some filter socks/bags from Filter Source. 10 bags cost a little less than $40 including shipping. I bought 25 micron for "rough" filtering and 1 micron for a finish filter. I'm still experimenting with the process, so I I appreciated being able to buy less than case quantities.

    20 micron filters

RE: filter picture All 20 micron filters are not created equal. There's an absolute 20 micron that will take out a certain percentage, usually above 80%, of the particles of the specified size. If it isn't specified as an absolute, you really don't know what it will let through. That doesn't...

    Stretch's used oil centrifuge

As an update on my progress, I recently purchased some 25 micron filter bags for the "rough" filtering. I'll follow that up with a 1 micron filter bag. Gravity fed, the filter bags are pretty efficient, but will tend to stop up in the lower portions first. So, the next rough filtering will go...

    Stretch's used oil centrifuge

I just registered so I could add a little information you may not be aware of. ppm is milligrams per liter or .001 g/1000 ml. With a density of .88, one liter of motor oil weighs 880 g. That means 2000 ppm is only 2.0g/880g =.2%. If you add all of the ppm variety contaminants, it's still...
