ATF in hubs, but intercooler not damaged. How?

Update: The cooling loop in the transfer case was not damaged - since being serviced, there has been no ATF in the hubs or air filter. There was still an ATF leak, which we tracked down to a loose vent at the top inside of the transfer case. So far, so good... PBR

ATF in hubs, but intercooler not damaged. How?

RTFM... got it. :-) My truck is an Ex-Marine vehicle, and it's set up with a fording kit. The switch 's in the vent position. I'll check that system. Thank you for all of the responses. :-) PBR

ATF in hubs, but intercooler not damaged. How?

Just got off the phone with the dealer. He says they tested the intercooler and put 60psi air pressure through it - it tested fine and wasn't damaged. What's the chance they're wrong? If I have the vampire and the crack is small, could it hold pressure for a few minutes and not leak...

ATF in hubs, but intercooler not damaged. How?

Crap, crap, crap. Thanks Haasino. I was searching the Hummer Knowledge Base about 4L80 trannys and saw that link - just didnt get to there yet. If it floats, flies, has wheels, or tits... :-) jas

ATF in hubs, but intercooler not damaged. How?

I bought an '86 M998 about a month ago. Being new to MVs, I took it to the former Hummer dealer to look it over. Maybe a mistake, maybe not... I figured they would know best what it needed, and given that I don't have a lift, I wasn't sure that I could lure an E5 from Fort Lewis to come check...

New M998 Project looking for input.

I've been doing the same research after buying a Humvee last week. I've also been talking to a number of friends and clients in the industry. Their recommendation: the Cummins 6BT conversion from Predator Motorsports. The guys at Platt Mounts speak highly of them, and tell me their Humvee will...

5 new tires - how big?

My new truck needs new shoes. This might seem like an unusual question, but how much trunk/truck space do I need to move 5 new 16.5" tires mounted on rims? 86HUMV on G503 will sell me 5 new 12 bolt rims with tires, but doesn't ship. I'll be in Las Vegas later this month on business, and am...

No brake lights or turn signals?

Woodland - perfect for the rainy northwest. Was hoping for a turret top and either a wagon back or slant back, but this will do for now. I'm looking for a turret top, slant back, and cross doors if anyone knows any for sale... :-) I would have bought a deuce, but my warehouse garage doesn't...

No brake lights or turn signals?

Doh! SGT Paterno would be so disappointed in me right now. I'm sure it's the light switch on the dash - totally forgot about that switch. I'll see what I can find in the manuals about the dash mounted brake light that won't go off. Thanks for going easy on the new guy. :-) PBR

No brake lights or turn signals?

I bought a Humvee today. It's a 1038, 4 seater, soft top, soft doors. Looks good, but it's not perfect - I didn't expect it to be. Two issues - the brake light on the dash dims, but does not go off when the parking brake is released. Also, the brake lights and the turn signals don not work...
