Thanks Joe! That would be cool! I know I can get civy parts at a local u-pull yard, but military grade might be a little harder.
I do have a welder, grinder and chop saw..... Planning on a plasma cutter this summer too now that they've come down to around $500.
I have a couple steel...
OK, I don't have an M35 or any military surplus nearby. I'm assuming I'll have to buy civy tires locally or some place like tirerack.com. Unless you know a good place to get them? Another wheel or two for spares would be nice too. One to mount on the trailer, and maybe an extra for expedition...
grrrr..... So there's more 105's than 101's available. Thoughts on getting a 105 and switching the brakes over to work with a surge or electric controller?
Also, anyone know off hand what size tires are on the 105's? I see it's a 6lug some I'm assuming different size than a 101, but correct me...
I'm lazy..... I don't load trailers until they are hooked to something.... Could always pull out the Hi-Lift if needed I guess. It's always in the back of my truck.
Here's the install manual I downloaded to look at:

Page 4 has a way to test I believe would work for you. By the exploded parts view on page 11 it looks relatively simple with no real calibration. More like the harder...
Do you have the m105a1-a2 manual? I managed to find and download it today... Looks fairly simple from the diagram.
Only about 4-5 parts. Two of which are air lines. Not sure why there's two. An emergency one? Extra? :?:
That leaves solenoid, fluid reservoir, and a common line to the drums...
I hear you. I've been helping a buddy work on cars the last couple months since we've both been out of work, and we had sub 20 temps for about 2 weeks. Luckily I have a barn to block the wind and a propane heater to take some of the chill off. Still sucks. :(
If I'm reading the manuals and info...
oh... hmmmm.... I was thinking underneath would be a pain to change on a muddy or rocky trail if needed. Maybe on the wheel well like you mentioned so it's balanced between front and rear, and not stuck underneath in the mud! :D
This might be more useful. Not sure if it has instructions for installing, but if you have one with surge brakes already then you might have a model to follow. Or figure it out form basic instructions.

Mike, do you have an m101 with surge brakes? I'm wondering if you could hook it up the same way. Maybe get the tongue with surge components off another 101 and adapt to fit the 105? I think I'll go with a 101 with surge brakes now rather than try to rig up something on a 105.
I would assume...
great! Appreciate the info! I can probably order some on tirerack then and maybe another wheel so I have a spare. I'm thinking maybe I can weld a spare tire mount from a jeep or something to the front of the trailer so it's accessible, yet out of the way.
Good to know! What size tires? Seems like I saw 900x16 or something like that mentioned before, but I'm not familiar with that size. Thanks again for the help!
I'm thinking this might be a good platform for an expedition/camping trailer a few years down the line. (certainly cheaper than the...
