Well its one piece again. And front wheel drive just like a real prius:) Unfortunately after we get the support gear removed and the parking brakes hooked up it has to go back to the back burner again:( Now that its mobile and can be gotten out of the way the top project is swapping a tree spade...
Finally got some time to get back on the hybrid project, a couple pics of the joining process. Note that a RBU with a couple 8v92's in it will pick the back of a 916 off the ground backing up when coupled like this and the landing gear is up. Also a FYI to anyone doing this, the coupling in the...
Soni: If I did the upload thing right here is the service manual for the 55000 I mentioned, hope it is usefull. You'll see what I'm talking about on the single center shaft, 2 gear sets for the two ratios, but to make a different pair ratios the center shaft would have to move.

Soni:
I dont have a 55000 tc now, I was just researching an upcoming project. It would seem odd to have different ratios of that 55000 as its all gear drive and the center shaft woud have to move up or down, but Im sure Oshkosh has done sillier things than that. I will post here as I find out...
Had a m34a2 with a 454/700r4 for a while, it worked very well. I didnt measure mileage, but did not seem any worse, and you could go as fast as you dared. I would recommend any big block gas engine over the ldt or lds, lighter more powerful and longer lasting. Trans did eventually die, but both...
Soni:
Beautiful build, I have a question from way back on your post #59, on the use of the 55000 series transfer case. I thougt the 55000 reduced in high range as well something like 2.4 to one, am I wrong on this? I was going to swap a 916 t-case in place of a 55000 to get highway speed at 1600...
Another nice thing about the TranSynd (made by BP) is the 300K change interval. I use it in my 755 and 740's, and have been very pleased, especially when using the retarder heavily. My local NAPA orders it for me, it is pricey up front though.
Haggerty insures my LVS (and many other military vehicles) on an agreed value full coverage policy, so I'm not sure why they wont for anyone else out there. I cannot however haul anything in it under this policy, but it is very inexpensive.
I recieved a 35a2 that the army had put red top optimas in and it cranked well, but not very long. I run Deka 931mf commercial truck batteries in all my MV's now and like them very well. They are cheap too.
Here are some pics of the new runt that stole the 916's tail. Maybee I should call it the gecco, instead of the prius.
Also wanted to get some feedback on a new project, using an old deuce a2, removing the old cab, continental, and spicer, retaining the original transfer case, and adding a...
Just a quick update:
The prius has been put on hold as I finally got a FPU to go with the MK-17 that was going to be used on this project. Looking for the self loader container handler RBU to go with the 916.
Tried to make a himars cab into a sleeper, but it didnt look right and seemed like a...
I would suggest a 6-71 for your 5-ton. Its very easy to power a 238 to 300, and your cooling system may be adequare. I can say it will be way small for an 8v92 if you want to use the right pedal:)
Been on the road for last few months and have made no progress on the prius, but we are gettingback to work. Currently modifying an m944 rocket launcher cab to use as a sleeper and I'll post some pics when we get it looking right.

The only thing that would put a ntc400 over a detroit 8v92 is price. ntc 400 is 6v92 territory, and not in the same ball game as an 8v92. I have both and like both engines, but you would have to be awfull patient to move anyting I've driven with an 8v92 with a ntc400. For your research I would...
