    Jeep "Commando" in Army Service

This answers A LOT of questions. Same truck, different configurations. It EVOLVED!!! Notice the top and the racks. Different in all the pictures but the numbers are the same. Also, more "stuff" added over the years including the antennas . Thanks. You must have been at the shows? (BTW...

    Jeep "Commando" in Army Service

That's why I started this thread. Too much that did make sense to me. It has a AN/VRC-12 radio set mounted in the back, not connected to anything. That set required 24 volt and that jeep is 12 volt. The antennas are wrong for the radios, the hood number is the VIN Number and that never...

    Jeep "Commando" in Army Service

Best I can do. Cropped pictures from a recent show where he was parked close to me. It's the one with the flags and the long number on the hood. Also, a front end shot. This is all I have.

Yep, know these as I restored one and still drive it. And have used them in my Army days. Not what I'm looking for.

    Jeep "Commando" in Army Service

Not being a Jeep expert I am looking for info on Army Jeep "commando's" A local guy has one for sale and it is a configured as a litter carrier and has military markings, canvas roof and sides. It is dated 1969 but I can't find any "M" vehicle info on these. He said they were pressed into...

    Converters for 24VDC to 12VDC/120 VAC ??

I had 4 24V to 120AC mil-spec units that I got surplus. None worked. A friend gave me 3 more of a different model to try to repair and no luck as the components are potted. Seems the military burned them up in mass. I have yet to see a working unit.

    My AN/GRC-46C is now installed

Yes and no. If I get up at 5AM on a Saturday I check the 3885 AM mil-radio net. The net control, W3PWW is so close to me most times I can't hear him as he goes right over me at time of the day. (no ground wave) The other USB nets on 7.??? change frequency so often I gave up. They e-mail the...

    My AN/GRC-46C is now installed

Yes, we are on the air with both the RATT rigs, GRC-142 and GRC-46C on the trucks, and my all military radios in the house. I just sold two complete AN/GRC-19 sets and another GRC-46B shelter. Mounts, mike's, speakers, cords included on the GRC-19's. Cleaning house here.

    My AN/GRC-46C is now installed

It's a comment I get often and I struggled with the decision to re-paint for a long time. However, during my time in the Signal Corp, the shelter color seldom, if ever, matched the trucks. Especially after CARC, like mine, came along. Before CARC, there were many shelters moved from older...
