Installing Ford 300-I6 into Unimog 404

if someone finds those drawing helpful, here are two DXF files, one for the original adapter and the 2nd adding the 300 holes: However I never made anything out of them, and no guaranty for accuracy. I used Fusion360 for the drawing and am happy to share the *.f3d files too if there is interest.

    Unimog Starter issues

When starting the post, the background color is white and text is black - I did not change anything and left it as default. Just now I changed the text color to white - which makes it invisible in edit mode :-(

    Unimog Starter issues

When starting the Unimog very frequently (4 out of 5 times) I am getting just a glonking sound, seems the solenoid is not engaging fully and the starter motor would not turn. At first I thought it was a grounding issue, since I installed a new (rebuild) starter, but now after the same issue...

Installing Ford 300-I6 into Unimog 404

Update (sorry for the delay) I ended up deciding for the original M180 and abandon the E300 conversion. The M180 engine I got had most of the missing parts I needed and is now in place. Some of the cooling hoses I had to make. The current state is the Unimog has a running engine - but have not...

Installing Ford 300-I6 into Unimog 404

am back on the project. Had to get the F300 rebuild and it's almost done. Good for a try-fit of the adapter plate to check on the hole pattern and the cutout location for the starter. And found out that the hole pattern of the flywheel is not quite matching. holes are off by about 1/64". A small...

Installing Ford 300-I6 into Unimog 404

I am using the two plates (from Ford engine and from M180 engine) to get the hole pattern into the drawing tool.

    Stand, vehicle support - NEEDED

If I remember to take some picture of mine, I'll post it. I got the stand with the FLU419 when I bought it. It was self-made by the previous owner, very well done with a turning wheel on ball bearings. (sorry for the tease, but if I don't post now I forget for sure.)

Installing Ford 300-I6 into Unimog 404

Bought the Unimog with lots of engine parts missing and decided to install a Ford 300 Inline 6 instead (happen to have access to one). I have seen some posts of Unimogs with this Ford engine installed and now hope someone would know links or other helpful info. In particular I am looking for the...

    Brake line replacement

I could not find much info on brake lines for my FLU419, so I am posting what I found out. From the parts document I found out that its a 6mm line 550mm long. The nuts have a M12x1 threat which is available from many hose specialists. The tubing - although it is a 6mm OD - can be replaced by...

    replacing differential lock parts

Today both differentials got replaced. But in the process one brake line went south at the T on the front axle. Now I am looking for a 6mmx550mm line with both ends flared. The local autocrats have only smaller threaded flares on them (since I had the T with me I could check) Expedition Imports...

    replacing differential lock parts

in addition to the items in aaronsp's list, there is also the thrust arm (#7@Figure 128 ) at the rear and same on the front axle as well as the torsion bar mounting and steering Tie-rod in the front. On the steering there is an option to either disconnect the tie-rod at the joint, or remove the...

    replacing differential lock parts

Great outlines - thanks. for step16 to clean the housing - I take it that's the inside of the axle - do I need to remove the shaft? If so, do I need to open the other end of the short axle when installing the shaft again, or does it slip right in place when pushing it in?
