    Tranny, starter, or something else?

    1. It should have a heat shield, but it's common to not be re-installed after a starter replacement. 2. Should pull out. Held in place by a grommet. 3. From what I remember, just the transmission mount. Maybe the linkages. Lines and hoses should have enough slack? 4. Like you said. Be careful...

Pretty sure you will find a buyer. Not sure how the market is over there, but I'm guessing (this close to original) it is a niche item, but eventually the right enthusiast will come by. Good luck!

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

It was during winter, but you'd expect a shop to have a curing room or whatever. Guess I haggled too much and got what I paid for. The primer I have is from De Ijssel Coatings. Very well known in the marine world (at least, over here). It's called ZF Primer, and is a 2K epoxy primer. I guess...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Actually, I had it sandblasted and primed by a coating company. It's been a while, I doubt they'd "warranty" it by now...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Wow, 2nd time I had to skip pages to find this thread. Nobody working on their trucks anymore? :( Last evening I spent a couple hours wire wheeling the D60. A bit more detailing and it's ready for epoxy primer. And here's the rust forming on the frame I was talking about before: It's...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Cleaned up the workshop, got the frame back inside. Some rust forming on the epoxy coating... not sure what to do. Was going to paint it next weekend. Think I'll have to sand it down and apply another layer of epoxy primer. Last night I power washed the front axle shell. Got some more grinding...

Nice work as always Rick. Too bad you're retiring, if you where to ever do an M1008/28 I might've considered buying it from you.

They didn't come out easy. Try sliding a socket that just fits down the tube.

    Lets talk offroad upgrades .....

I'm replacing pretty much everything except the carrier and pinion bearings, they seem to be fine. I ordered the following from ORD: - 2x D60 Spindle seal & bearing kit - 1x D60 Yoke install kit - 2x D60 inner axle seal - 2x D60 outer axle seal - 2x D60 wheel bearing kit - 2x D60 kingpin...

    Lets talk offroad upgrades .....

I've been tearing apart my front axle (Dana 60) and the tubes are full of rust and dirt. It also started to work it's way through the inner axle seals as you can see here: From what I've learned our trucks didn't come with proper outer axle seals. If you're going to be going through water...

    M1009 Rear Axle Yoke

Looks like Rock Auto has USA Standard Gear yokes. I believe those are ok? You could try a company like Offroad Design, but they probably carry expensive upgrade parts instead of OEM replacements.
