My M1009 finally let me down:deadhorse:. The batteries seem to be dead. My gauge in the truck was working and now shows no charge. I charged them up and the front battery went from 13 amps to 8 amps without turning over. I'm guessing the batteries need to be replaced since they are the...
I am looking for a working RT-524 to install in my M1009 CUCV. I have the mount and antenna. I got an e-mail from a guy named Doug Stutzman in Nevada (Pvt Jarhead's Surplus) who has a set for $399.00 plus $60.00 for shipping. He wants me to send a postal money order, which has set off an...
You really need to check them out before you bid. I was able to go over and inspect mine (M1009) before I won it. There were quite a few other CUCV that looked great from the pictures. Some turned out to be DOA and some of the crummy looking ones were drivable. The GL guys at Redstone try to...
I'm working on a paper about Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP). Just out of curiousity, does anyone know if the M1009 is hardened against EMP? I know that most vehicles made after 1972 (or anything with an electronic ignition system) is subject to EMP effect unless it is hardened. How do you go...
I need to paint my M1009. Mine is camo but I was thinking of the sand color. How much prep was involved? Did you have to sand it all or just in spots? What did you use to mask the windows and lights? Did you have to remove the grill cover? Looking at your M1009 has inspired me!!
Just got the title from GL today. Now its off to get the title. My wife has shocked me by stating she wants to use it when she goes to yard sales in the Spring! After all the comments and eye rolling I thought the CUCV was safe. My daughter still says she won't be caught dead in though :-D
I was out there the other day and there are a load of pretty good ones coming up this month. I'm ususally at Redstone a least once a week for work. If you need help checking it out , just hollar.
I got my M1009 out of Redstone. Actually the trucks aren't on Redstone but at the NG Maintenance yard next to Redstone and can be seen from the road. There really isn't much of a problem to inspect them since they aren't on the arsenal. The trucks look to be in pretty good shape. I think you...
Don't know if you're interested, but there are a bunch of M1009's coming up for sale at Redstone Arsenal this month. Check out GL. They're all in running order for the most part. The ones i looked at seemed to be in pretty good shape.
When I picked up my M1009 from Redstone, it came with a fire extinguisher that was rolling around in the back. The horn on it is busted and I was wondering how I would go about either getting it fixed or where I could get a correct extinguisher? The one that came with the truck doesn't seem to...
I seem to recall seeing the trucks used by the 111th ADA back in the 1980's and early 1990's having the NATO 4 color camo pattern. The unit tactical markings had a Tan colored box with black letters and numbers on the bumper. I guess it just comes down to who does the painting and where.
