I got a new fel pro #os4250c gasket set that has front ,rear and both side cork gaskets and two small pieces of rubber about an inch long.What are the rubber pieces for?

This is the only seal that was a close fit for my diff. mine mesured 1.855 I.D x 2.5 O.Dx .42 thick I suggest you mesure your and make sure this is the one for you. I first bought one that is on a parts list I found on the web and it wasn't even close to the right one.here is a linl to the napa...

Has anyone found a Pinion seal that will fit into the pressed metal ring in a "small 8 3/4 " differential?
