Well, it may be that the newly installed glow plugs just needed a break-in period. I allowed the truck to sit for two hours, in 20 degrees, without plugging in the block heater; it started though I did not hear the relay cycle. I repeated the exercise again, after a ninety minute cold interval...
I do have a multimeter. I downloaded the TMs. Does the 1009 have a glow plug controller card? On an unrelated note, does it damage the vehicle to drive with the lockout hubs engaged, when not in 4 wheel drive?

There are 80k miles on my CUCV. Do glow plugs fail, one at a time, until the truck wont start? I have replaced the relay, and ordered the Wellman 070 replacements.

I want to add a slave cable to my 1009 CUCV but I don't know if this is an item still in use; are there parts like this which the DOD still uses but are legally available as surplus, as well?
