3.5KW runs great for 30 minutes, Dies, Wait 30 minutes, runs great for 30minutes

Hey Guys, The 60s military generator is running fine thanks to all. Last night, my brother-in-law called me and ask if I wanted his Generac 5550 portable generator. He started it 15 years ago the day he bought it from Home Depot. It has less than 15 minutes run time. He paid a little over $800...

3.5KW runs great for 30 minutes, Dies, Wait 30 minutes, runs great for 30minutes

I posted but it didn't hold, and lost it. Now I'm trying again. Yesterday I finally found a ignition coil locally at Tractor Supply. It was an hour away but they only had this one so I took off to get it. I installed this morning and the old military generator started up faster than it ever...

Late last night I found what I thought would be a simple find, I was surprised that of the 6 places I called, most people had no idea what I was looking for. I called three Tractor Supply stores and the last one had 1 Ignition coil in stock. I drove an hour to pick it up and installed it this...

3.5KW runs great for 30 minutes, Dies, Wait 30 minutes, runs great for 30minutes

No fuel shutoff that I know of. I put a fuel filter and new fuel line three years ago. I believe it's a gravity feed fuel and I have a five gallon fuel tank placed three feet away and i foot above the carb. Don't know the model due to wear and tear before I got it. Several scraps accross plate...

3.5KW runs great for 30 minutes, Dies, Wait 30 minutes, runs great for 30minutes

I forgot to say, I have started the generator every few months to keep it in good shape. But each time I would let it run for about 20 minutes and shut it down. I never ran it more than 20 minutes, so this problem now was a cmplete surprise during hurricane Laura. I thought I had it all worked...

The 1965 era military generator is a 3.5kw that was given to me buy a friend we helped move into a nursing home three years ago. It's electric...
