The 60s military generator is running fine thanks to all.
Last night, my brother-in-law called me and ask if I wanted his Generac 5550 portable generator. He started it 15 years ago the day he bought it from Home Depot. It has less than 15 minutes run time. He paid a little over $800...
I replaced the coil and it works fine again. It ran for 90 minutes until I shut it off and it restarted quickly.

Yesterday I finally found a ignition coil locally at Tractor Supply. It was an hour away but they only had this one so I took off to get it.

No fuel shutoff that I know of. I put a fuel filter and new fuel line three years ago. I believe it's a gravity feed fuel and I have a five gallon fuel tank placed three feet away and i foot above the carb.
Don't know the model due to wear and tear before I got it. Several scraps accross plate...
I forgot to say,
I have started the generator every few months to keep it in good shape. But each time I would let it run for about 20 minutes and shut it down. I never ran it more than 20 minutes, so this problem now was a cmplete surprise during hurricane Laura.
I thought I had it all worked...
Like the top says the generator starts and runs great for 30 minutes, dies and will not start again for 30 minutes, but starts quickly again and again.
