    4L80E Transmission troubles, DTC 86

I tend to agree to a point. From a labor approach I might look at the valve body next "BUT" about the only way to approach that is to swap in a known good body. It would surprise me to be able to find a shop with the tools or technician to test one.

    4L80E Transmission troubles, DTC 86

In the civilian world the 4l80e is capable of locking up in any gear when it detects an over heat condition. I've never been able to find any definitive information on the military TCM as to it's programing. Seeing it has no "Haul/Tow" mode, and its intended use , I think the way mine acts it...

    What batteries do I need

6T's from the Government side. Group 24 are the right size height wise. I will not give advise but tell you what I've done. One truck has Odyssey 6t's , one replaced under warranty but will not use them again they have become stupid expensive. The other truck has Wall World Group 24 AGM's ...

Clunking sound when I shift from P to D

If you wrap your hand around the joint and wiggle the drive shaft and can feel any difference in the movement of the two ends of the yokes, It's bad. You should feel NO difference in the rotation of the two ends as they wiggle back and forth or any play back and forth( kind of up and down)...

Clunking sound when I shift from P to D

Remove the joints and visit a parts dealer that starts with a N and ends with an a. These are common size joints and an experienced parts guy should be able to fix you up. My 2 cents.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Should be required reading for everyone with a fuel problem! i believe the translucent nature of the tanks may also contribute to the problem, sun light. A picture is worth a thousand words!

    M998 Oil Pump Problem

No gauge necessary, remove the sender, crank the engine, should be a healthy squirt of black oil, no squirt big problem. Quick and dirty. My two cents.

    Lost nut in starter

From your description my best guess is that the bolt in question went into the pivot for the Bendix. My first try would be to pick it up at a 45 degree angle with the solenoid on the bottom and "tap" the nose on the ground firmly. I know its heavy. Plan B would be to take the bolts off on the...

    Lost nut in starter

If it "fell" in, it should "fall" out. BANG IT ON SOMETHING. Sometimes force works.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Was that a Song Chuan relay that was bad? The reason I ask I have a Nartron box on the bench in pieces awaiting said relay. It appears I will be able to lift the board enough to get to the bottom of the relay on the Nartron.
