Cleaned original plugs and still were sooty (black powdered) after running and quitting
Replaced plugs with new ones and got same result.
Had the top off of the carb and ran the electric fuel pump to make sure float stopped fuel from entering after bowl was filled to specified float setting...
Wife was ill...just got back to this issue. Am just now going to install the new coil, and points. Will respnd after this to what yuou have given me. I truly appreciate this post and ois guidance.

A Test run goes probably around 5-10 minutes max. at idle before the engine quits. The two air horn lines are connected at the distributor but the air cleaner and air horn assembly are and were off when I have test run the engine.

Got my coil from Da Bella and got my distributor points rotor and condenser. Tester will arrive next week...
