I am ashamed of myself. ID this part?

The spring and washer are shown in ORD 9 SNL G-740, page 50, items 'E' (washer) and 'G' (spring). They fit inside the cross tube, 'H' (described as 'lever') in the end that pivots on the ball stud, 'D', which is attached to the transfer case. Now you have what it is, and where it goes, including...

I am ashamed of myself. ID this part?

The spring shown is too weak and too small to be a part of the clutch disk. I believe this spring and washer combo belong inside the cross-tube of the clutch linkage, so that the tube is spring loaded on the pivot balls. The cross-tube assembly mounts on ball studs that are attached to the frame...

Out with the old - in with the new!

Well, thanks for the heads up. Hope the site is back up soon. Of course this begs the question, will there be a completely new site, complete with a new name, or will we be able to access the new version at the existing site name?

    Why convert 24V to 12V

I am certain the biggest reason is PRICE. My M-38 was owned by a school district after it was surplussed out, and they converted it to 6V, presumably to use the same parts as some CJ-2s and 3s that they already had. In doing this, they cut every wire off (including grounds), stripped out the...

    willys help

Looks and sounds like you're coming right along. Don't let people steer you wrong with inaccurate advice. The reason most of the engine parts are so readily available, is the long production run. This is the Willys "Go - Devil" 4 cyl engine that went into production around 1937 in the Willys...

Help identifying a Willys Jeep W/Pics.

Another quick way to tell the difference between a CJ-2a and a CJ-3a, only the 2a had the drain holes on the sides. These can be seen just above and abaft the steps on each side.

    M-38 Rifle Rack

Midwest Thanks a lot. I guess I never looked far enough into their listings.

    M-38 Rifle Rack

Have recently acquired the rifle carrier for my 1952 M-38. Now I need to fabricate the brackets to mount it to the windshield frame. Does anybody have the measurements or specs. on these two brackets? I need to know width, thickness, overall length, and how/where to make the bends. Thanks!

    M38A1 Coolant Leak from Head/Block

If you haven't already done it, I would just go ahead and pull the head off. It's a real easy job, and the head gasket is fairly cheap. If you don't already have hardened exhaust valves, go ahead and install them just as a matter of maintainance while you're in there.

    WW II Gun Truck

Thanks a lot. At least I know I'm wanting to talk in the right price range. I will also have a sort of reference point, where if he thinks the truck is made out of gold, I can be pretty sure of it. I don't mind paying what something's worth, but I really hate getting ripped off.

    WW II Gun Truck

Nice truck. I have located one of them near my house. Looks pretty rough, does anybody know what a rough M-2-4 is worth? Might be a runner, don't know for sure yet.

    towing M818 backwards

Towing backwards. Having spent my whole life since getting out of the Navy in the towing business, I have observed that most vehicles, including military, are not made to go backwards. Things that have no problem going 100MPH forwards, will come off at 20MPH backwards. With military vehicles...
