I mean, I already have the front axle, and a 205 transfer case is not hard to come by...
Of course, the box might be a problem.
My understanding is that all M880 series trucks have the semi-floater Dana 44 front axle. But I have a kingpin Dana 60 (FF, 4.10 gears, open diff) front axle that came out of a gray W300 Powerwagon that I'm pretty sure was a variant of the M880 series.

Back in the early '80s, the Navy had a lot of gray Dodge pickups that looked like M880s except iirc, they were 2wd. That was the standard vehicle used for base transportation. Anyone know anything about these?
Something I haven't seen mentioned is that any mechanically injected diesel (probably electronic too) can run on a combination of whatever liquid fuel it is running and a gaseous fuel (propane, natural gas, methane etc.) added to the intake air stream. Basically get to your cruising speed...
Oh yeah, MVs do manage to look much cooler than civvie vehicles, just by virtue of not worrying about looks. My favorites in terms of looks are the MB, the M715 series and the Dodge WC series. M37s look pretty cool too.
Thanks for the welcome, everybody! It doesn't really even rise to the level of hobby, tobyS. I just like the fact that MVs are designed for function as opposed to civvie stuff which is mostly designed for appearance.
