Chuck hit the nail on the head. I also could find no reference in either of the bills to allow for normal civilian type registration of MV's so they can be used legally as daily drivers and recreational use. Both bills only allow for Historic Vehicle registration with the stated restrictions...

Actually 2243 is the correct specified standard plug for the M38 which has a L134 engine. The 2245 would be an option for a hotter plug if fouling is an issue.

If you are referring to Moses Ludels early CJ rebuild guide I do think it is a very good book and an excellent shelf reference for the M38A1 and any other 45 to 72 CJ.

Did you get an answer? The A1 does not use fuses but does have an automatic circuit breaker inside the main light switch assembly. We have wiring diagrams on our Post WWII Willys M jeeps web site.

You may have to unbolt the front mouts to help it clear the steering box. Remember this oil pump drives your distributor so you will have to address the correct indexing procedure to keep the distributor in time.
As posted on the g I found that TB 746-93-1(1954 thru 1964) which replaced the WWII version AR850-5 spells out the requirements listing the primary suggested sizwe as 20" with point forward. They offer adjustments in size for various special needs.
