I owned it since it had 3300 miles on it and it had a clear glass that was cracked. I pulled the glass and put a shaded with antenna glass in it right after I bought it. I must replace it again. It is clouded around the bottom edges. Glad I pulled it. The rubber was glued in from the factory it was sealed well but hiding rust. Nothing major easy fix. I also pulled the nice dash pad before it gets messed up. I may just let the cluster in place. I do Not like messing with a working cluster. I also pulled the sill plates of and everything looked great. the LINE X is definitely worth the money and effort. I can only imagine what this would look like inside with out the LINE X. I am getting warmed up now and feeling the urge again. That is despite the weather and work load at my regular job. I am going to gather up some M1009 wheels and send them out to be sand blasted. I want to send them all out to a spin balancer first so I don't restore bent rims. Thanks for looking. More great things coming along.

DSCF5298.jpgDSCF5299.jpgDSCF5297.jpgDSCF5296.jpgI was trying to get an idea of how the LINE X would look all cleaned up. It had some mud and dirt in it for the past 10 years plus. It cleaned up like new just spraying it and scrubbing it with tire cleaner. I look forward to scrubbing and scuffing the underside. I will then coat it with rusfree undercoating. Till I get back at thank you for looking. If your bored go watch TV. I will go work on my CUCV. Someone will be getting a nice CUCV.

DSCF5300.jpgToday was more grass mowing and searching for M1009 CUCV wheels. I hit the jack pot. I dug out all the wheels and sorted thru them. I found a pile along with 8 more that are still on trucks sitting in the field. So all is well. I am going to load these and have them spun on the balancer before I even take the time to have them blasted and painted. Have a Great Day. I am organizing my shop today and cleaning up so I can spin the body cart and work on the other side. Dougco1 I think I have your 6 on this one.

I rigged up a team of reel gang mowers to cut the grass. The Grand Son rides the bike and I hitch the mowers to the back. You can't see it in the picture but there is a goose neck hitch on the bike at the base of the seat. I just sit back and instruct him on speed and areas to do. Safety is at the fore front. I have him in full PPE and keep him hydrated. The M1009 wheels were in the way of cutting so I had to load them all up in my Silverado. Grand Son didn't like them in the grass and set his bike there in protest.

DSCF5301.jpgDSCF5302.jpgDSCF5303.jpgDSCF5304.jpgI spent the last 3 1/2hours with a scratch pad and DX330 wax and grease remover cleaning the under side of my M1009 tub. It gets very clean and gets me very dirty. I did it all by hand and vacuum cleaner to avoid the dirt but that was only a minor deterrent. I cleaned from the front seats forward for tonight. I will spend a few more nights cleaning the remaining underside. This is an opportunity that very few people have unless you remove your complete body from the frame. I was going to wash it with the pressure washer but wanted to avoid getting water in places that it would stay a long time. As it was the windshield pinch weld was still wet and I pulled that vehicle in my barn in November 2017. I know the roof don't leak and I was sweating but not that bad. I think it looks great and will clean up well. I intend to remove the heat shields and clean up under them. Once it is all clean I will undercoat the entire bottom side and tap and lube the mounting nuts and bolts. Thank you for looking. Volunteers are welcome. Learning is free. The hard work is payment. I used no power tools or air pressure so far. It saves me the noise and I can enjoy my XM while doing it.

DSCF5307.jpgDSCF5306.jpgDSCF5305.jpgDSCF5308.jpgWell since no one showed up I started with out you. Slow progress but progress. I was very dirty again tonight. I have about 75% of the underside cleaned and blown out. No holes or anything close. I want to get it all clean and do a final wash of the entire under side. I wrestled with the transfer case linage again tonight. Finally I just cut the cotter pins and removed the linkage and the transfer case lever. Finished the filler work on the left side 1/4 panel and rocker. Needs finish putty and then that's done. Going to cut the right rocker off and replace the rocker panel. I will be working tomorrow night if you get bored stop by. Wear old clothing. Thanks for looking. I did remove the 1/4 panel fillers at the back and the heat shields. I will paint them and install them after I under coat the entire under side. Gives you a basic idea of the condition.

I was googling weather strips and found this place right up the road from my house. I bought Mustang parts from them in the past and see they now sell weather strips for the CUCV line of trucks and all new rubbers for glass. Good deal. Probably the same make as LMC. Thought I would share. I hope it helps just one person and my time was well spent. Thank you.

I remember this picture from my youth. Blue Oyster Cult album cover. Ship in bottom right corner. Similar shape and position of fly. Just wanted to share. :). Have a Great Day. Stay productive. Time and effort is a terrible thing to waste. Do it right the first time. No hacking.

DSCF5309.jpgDSCF5310.jpgDSCF5311.jpgDSCF5312.jpgDSCF5313.jpgVery hot and humid so I slacked a bit. The left side is complete and ready for primer. And then onto the right side rocker is all that is needed over there. Cut the old one off and I am NOT happy with the fit of a rocker over. So I am getting a full rocker. I bought some parts from someone a few years back and these are just slip on's the kind you just glue rivet into place to mask the rust. It still rusts 100 X as bad under the sloppy fitting rocker. The time to do it right is now. A minor delay but worth the wait. I cleaned up the inside rocker and am replacing the inner rocker also. I want to get onto getting the windshield pinch weld cleaned and repaired next. Then keep moving forward. No word on the transmission or axle. All is well I have plenty to do at this time. Thank you for looking. Have a Great Day. Tomorrow is family night. No work just fun.

DSCF5314.jpgDSCF5315.jpgDSCF5316.jpgDSCF5317.jpgDSCF5318.jpgDSCF5319.jpgI started out making a new HD vinyl dah and column cover. I ended the night cleaning up the windshield pinch weld. I began stripping the firewall. I am going to paint the entire exterior of the cab structure. The pinch weld needs a few small holes brazed shut and it will be golden. I will sand a bit of glazing putty in the pits just cause I can. Started stripping the firewall of a few things. Not everything. I know how to tape things up and sometimes things are best left undisturbed. Someone will be getting a nice M1009 when I get this finished. Thank you for looking. It keeps on raining the levee is going to break.

DSCF5320.jpgDSCF5321.jpgDSCF5322.jpgDSCF5323.jpgSpent most of my day working my regular job. stripped the firewall as far as I am going to. Washed it down with acetone and then scuff sanded it. Even after 30 years the acetone takes the paint off down to the black wash primer. Looks really good and am looking forward to getting the trim edging all sealed and painted. Still a bit away from that but it is ok to think ahead and plan. I see the stamped numbers on the edge of the cowl. This is the second one I noticed that the stamped number matched the one on the firewall in crayon. Mine is 420. National stoner day amongst other anniversaries. Thanks for looking. I put the drivers door up on the stand and it needs some repairs done to it mild dents. Some other day.

Hey Rick,

Let us know how that new rubber fits. I wonder if it is any better than the rest of the vendors?

My guess is it is the same stuff that LMC offers just in different packaging. The same as the A C Delco parts being passed along as Genuine GM. Not the case. But since it is local vendor I will give it a try. I have 3 more M1009's to complete and then done. But I will be sure to report. What issues do you have with the knock off parts? The only one I ever had issues with was the cab to roof seal. Never fit right. I have been fortune enough to salvage a few genuine GM cab to top seals. How are things going with the M1009?

Anyone know where to get the little metal PITA clips that hold the out door handle linkage to the door latch? I am going to find some somewhere. They are very hard to get undone. Unless they have a tool for doing it. Metal clips NOT plastic.

Check out a company called Auto vehicle Parts Co. or Au-Ve-Co for short they used to carry all that stuff and if still around I'm sure still do.
Just took a look and the part no. your looking for is 15518 and is for GM door latch rods from 1964-up and come 25 to a box.
