Known about this truck for year's...made a deal on it a few month's back and drug it back to Jacksonville. It's been sitting since 1997 but it cranked up on the fuel that was in it, water pump was looked up and so was the fuel shut off cable so luckily it shut off on it's on because the gear shifter was also rusted solid so putting it in gear and stalling it out was not going to be an option. Replaced water pump and radiator and got it fired up and running real good, installed a new master cylinder but the brake's are going to need new flex hose's and wheel cylinder's before it's going to stop.

I have a good used take-out shift lever from my old 6453. It includes the retainer but not the shift tower that bolts to the transmission cover. That's, unless you're planning to scrap the whole transmission. PM me if interested.

Your M54 looks quite good actually. They clean up nicely. I found my M54A1 (Mack Engine) in 2015. I thought that I had made a very big mistake. NOT SO. I went for a cab off restoration. It was far better than it looked. It is a 1965 sporting a 1975 depot rebuild. I purchased it from the Army Reserve Unit in Lawrence Township, NJ. It is absolutely the sweetest running of any truck I have ever owned.
You will enjoy yours as well.

The first photos are of the work in progress. The last photo is the 90% finished truck requiring only final painting, It is a completely rebuilt cab....window, doors, steps, glass, frames, hood, fenders, side panels, entirely new set of Goodyear G177s on refinished, sandblasted, and balanced wheels. The inside panel contains all new gauges except for the tack, and odometer; they are original to the 1975 rebuild. The cargo bed is from a 2010 M923.

Here it is, co worker said he bought it from a lady, and her dad had passed away. Has a battery shutoff under the passenger seat, and a kill switch under the dash.
