Roger this pic was in the magazine article you posted in the 9th ID Facebook Group. Looks like aluminum blocks clamped around the rear frame tubes with a flat bar connecting both sides, that supported the stowage shelf overtop the engine bay.

Is that an Empi air filter box over the carb instead of the twin mushrooms?

It looks like the aluminum blocks are supporting a bar that goes across the back. Maybe the dual cleaners would not fit because of this bar. A single would have to do I guess. With the 3rd crew member sitting/kneeling where the twin AC filters would have to be caused some issues so they resorted to a single solution.

I think this is one of the GLID FAV's. The basket holds the electonics and I bet it got in the way of the dual air filters. Yes.. it kinda looks like the EMPI box.
