I'm a new owner of a M1123 with the 6.5 engine. What is a normal temperature reading on the temperature gauge for a truck that is just idling? Thanks

I have watched this forum for a long time and are impressed with the knowledge and willingness to help others.

Operating range is 180-220. Once the engine is warmed up, it should stay within that range during idle.

Outside temperature will affect engine temps, but it should still be in that range in all but the most extreme conditions.

In very cold weather it might take a long time to warm up to that range if all you are doing is idling the engine and not putting any load on it.

Ya know Ive also heard that the temp gauges are not very accurate. I have a 6.5 non turbo that always seemed to be running hot. I put a mechanical gauge on there just to see and it says I was running 15 degrees cooler then the oem gauge did. The stock gauge said 220 or so, the mechanical one, 205. There are also some posts aboput changing out the fan temp sensor and or putting a switch in so itll kick on always or sooner to help with temps if its an issue.
