Ground Rod driver

I have both Bosch and Hilti demolition drills and I prefer the Bosch. I bored a hole slightly bigger than a ground rod in a chunk of steel rod and welded it to a broken drill bit. It works fine for the limited times I need it and didn't cost anything. It makes driving a ground rod easy.

I was wondering about that, A copper rod is no match for huge rocks. You think you are going deeper when in fact the rod is just folding up against he rock.

Yes Sir! The ground rod driver that we had built at Bouligny would do that... Punch the ground rod into the ground, test, and keep screwing more lengths to it. Eventually an end would stick up in the air waving like a flag on a pole... The guys would get their bolt cutters and hack it off on both ends and start over.
